Door card removed. Pain to do. I thought I would snap it. Lower screw wasn't that bad after costumizing screwdriver. It has been cut by half in the end.

Now door card is gone what do I do to unlock this door?

EDIT: Last night observation!
Last night when I have spent a lot of time in the car I have realised that the sound of the mechanism is identical as in other doors. When pooling on door handle from outside there is no last moment resistance followed by unlocking the door. When pooling on the wire from the inside it feels spongy and have no resistance at all.
When battery was removed for charging I was wandering how this door would be locked when other doors are opening and closing without any voltage getting to them.

Ok, if there is a correct sound from the solenoid then this could be a mechanical issue. Anyway you will need to pull the catches/wires from the inside to release the door, but have a look around to see if anything has come adrift and observe the actuator when using the central locking before disconnecting everything.

When locking and unlocking doors from centre console the wire in passenger door goes up and down but this is not the case in drivers (damaged) door. But there is still a loud (normal) sound of motor trying to do something.
Any thoughts?

Officially gave up on it!

Been on it for a couple of hours this weekend and I cant do it as door locking mechanism will not open the door. Got to removing the window mechanism and I couldn't undo the second window clip as with closed door there is no room for inserting my hand in the door. Lock itself has 3 screws on the outside of the door so I cant see how on earth I would do unscrew them with door locked.
Booked it to a Rockingham landrover Indy in Corby for Thursday. Any other things I should try before then? How about the idea of adding extra voltage to the loom?
How to disconnect other doors to supply max voltage to the locked door?

If you cant think of anything else I will leave it at mercy of a garage and my wallet will cry.
When I have asked them informally about this door problem + lower armsx2 + track rod ends kitx2 and full 10year service guy said it will be between £2K-£3K Big Cry Big Cry
Is that normal price?

Dodgy connector?

I have an unlocking issue with my rear nearside door and I have to press console central locking button and pull on the small locking lever on the door to get it ot work.

So I have been told by stealer this morning. Door and boot latches are on their shelf if anyone needs them. He said there is an issue with them.
My door was past every combination I could think off and still I couldn't open it.
All best with your lock change.
Door this morning!!

Final update

So the issue is sorted now.
Door latch has been replaced yesterday by our friendly garage. All in all they charged me one man hour but I have removed the door card earlier when door was locked.
Door works now like a treat.
Door latch price £92.94+vat

I'm happy again!
Thanks for your support and tips and tricks guys!!!

This is the component that fails, takes 10 minutes to change once you've got the actuator out Thumbs Up

WOW!!!
Why on earth no one mention this before Big Cry
My door latch is in its box in the garage on the shelf.
I might fix it and sale it or reuse if I can.

That will leave bad after taste.

It's all here in the Wiki Thumbs Up

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic33743.html?highlight=

It's the large motor in the photo that fails mainly through crud/carbon build up on the armature, wash it out with a solvent and you've got a spare, I did mine 4-5 years ago and it's still working Thumbs Up

In fairness to the garage it is not usual practice to service and replace components within a module. The actuator assemblies are not designed to be opened and the garage would be rather exposed with such a repair and the additional labour may not help the cost that much.

Fixing stuff is usually reserved to the likes of us that haunt these forums. If you have the time and inclination you can save a bucketload of money and gain considerable satisfaction in the process.

+1 Thumbs Up anyone who can change a door lock actuator in 1 hour certainly isn't an amateur and hasn't overcharged you, to do it first time including striping the tiny motor down would take nearer 3 hours and a box of Elastoplast.
You will also get 12 months warranty with all genuine LR components including labour regardless of who fitted it providing you saved the receipt.

I must say I was presently surprised to be charged only one hour of labour. That was taking window out, door mechanism and latch out and reassembly of them. I wouldn't do it in 2hours taking the rain in to account so I was pleased and having the warranty with new LR product is an additional bonus.

Passenger side I will try to do this summer without buying a new latch.
I will feel like I've saved £160 in process.
Thanks for the intel. Thumbs Up

Don't bother with the passenger side unless it is acting up, some will last a lifetime, the driver door is used far more frequently than the others including rears, all have the same motors.
It can be prudent to check occasionally that they have in fact locked as there will not be an audible warning if one has failed to lock Thumbs Up
