Auto box gremlin

Hi all,

Just a while ago my auto box appeared to jump into neutral while driving along, although the selector stays in D, shortly after when in reverse it would jump into neutral, thinks I would investigate, after removing the transmission cover I noted the cranked linkage was crusted with corrosion, after soaking with WD I removed it and found it was seized solid, after a clean and lube I refitted it and gear selection is now perfect again, I also noted the trans cover has a spongy lining to it which tends to hold water , I think causing the corrosion, so I removed it hopefully to allow the linkage to become less susceptible to operating in a moist area.
Hope this proves useful to someone

ATB. Steve. Thumbs Up

Good call Steve.

Reminds me to get under the old girl and squirt some lube on my linkage at the weekend.

Just happy with the old girl. Whistle Just the EPB & compressor to get sorted but only 2 ongoing problems is a good count. Mr. Green

Think I'm headed down a similar path DSL.

I get fluctuating revs at about 1500 RPM and a grumble like it's lugging. Nothing under load and slips through the box with no issues so will just have to keep my eye on it.

Just seems reluctant to change up but If I slip into sport, it doesn't happen as it hangs on to a gear for longer and bypasses 1500 revs.

All very strange but it's a Disco so likes to keep the owner on their toes.

Gary

I'm sure your missus will have a smile on her face, but what about the Disco?
