| Air suspension hight sensor joining rod modification ? |
|
Need help from our Spanish frends. What amount are the plastic rods shortened by to get off road hight when the swith is in the on road mode ? I have ordered a spair set of rods to shorten and try your trick and rather than experement it would help to know how much to shorten them.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi Lads, I still haven't got around to doing mine. I need to get hold of the one's my mate has already modified. I will try to do it this weekend and finally post the pics. You have to simply cut and re-join but not too short or else the car looks like it's on stilts.
In the meantime I will dig out some pics of his car when we were last in Morocco so you can see the ride height.

You can see the modified black D3 next to the standard blue D3.
Cool, huh?
BTW he has 275/65-18 Mickey Thompson All Terrain tyres fitted. They used to rub on the inner arches until he fitted the modified sensors. 2006 RR Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

disco4x4au - same question for you - what is the length of the sensor brackets that you use? for what amoutn of lift over standard? I'm probably wanting 25mm over standard ...

I have just got 4 new joining rods to modifie and with only a couple of weeks left to a big trip having this info would be a great help, Eneyway this weekend I wil do some experemental stuff to work it out. Just need off road hight when set in on road mode. I plan to have one set of rods for off roading and one standard set.

Hi Rob
What is involved in changing the rods. Can you reach them in situ or do you have to take the wheel off

Hi Heine,
Front rods look easy, just turn steering one way or the other and they are accesable. Rear ones are tucked away a bit, I found jacking the car up high helped doing a tempre repair when a stick snaped one rear rod on a trip.
The rods have rubbers at each end and just pull off, alittle soap or detergent helps. As my previous post , lets see how I go this weekend
As they say nothing ventured nothing gained
