front wheel arch elecric plug removal discovery 3 2005
Hi i am trying to get the plugs apart 3 on the left and two on the right under the front wheel arch liners, as i have had various faults come up and wanted to take them apart to check them with a magnifying glass, then spray with electrical cleaner before putting them back together, but two of us have sprayed with wd40 and carefully inspected them and both od us just cant work out how they come apart without any damage. thank you bones1.

A photo of which ones you are struggling with may assist as well.
I'm struggling to visualise a total of 5 connectors in the front wheelarches, though my 2007 may well be different.

front wheel arch wiring plugs
hi thanks for replying, the connectors are roughly an inch in diameter two on the right and three on the left about where the front passengers and drivers feet are but underneath the front wheel arch liners. i have taken both the liners off to gain access, im not clever enough to be able to send a picture. bones1

All the electrical sockets/plug are extremely robust compared to other vehicles, no amount of pulling will part them, but when you do find the right "key" to press they will fall apart and when you do you will find they are logical. They all have a point that needs pressing or two points that need squeezing, keep trying and good luck.
It is unlikely to be a faulty plug of this type more like a broken wire It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

yes those are three of the plugs, great pictures, but after two days we still cant find the trigger or what you press to get them apart, its quite difficult to hold them in each hand and then find/press a trigger? with a third hand as there is not enough free room around them, we would like to inspect the pins inside and then sort out any damaged wires. it looks like it will be the dealer tomorrow morning, bones1.

Regarding the three in the N/S/F wheel arch (by the passengers feet...) IIRC when I did the same work to mine (and it was a while back....), I unbolted the holding plate complete and accessed them that way.
I then checked them, sprayed with electrical cleaner and packed them with a silicone grease (from Maplins).I see no ships........
