Very bad feeling with brakes
Hi.
I had some bad return in the steering wheel when I brake gently , very scary..
So , I'd suspect brake disc problem ,and changed the discs..(thanks to advanced factory and steve. ).... And now , after one month... Symptoms back again..
On hard braking , nothing , low speed or not , but , when I just want to decelerate , the steering wheel had bad vibrations , and I feel the left wheel 'playing'..
Possible it's a dead lower arms bush ?
When I lift the wheel , nothing seems bad..maybe the rear lower arm bush , I had the 'clong' on hard brake at low speed or on little bump on the road.. Track rock end are new..
Give your opinion please.. And apologies for my bad English.. Marco.

Hi Beanie.
That's what I suspect first with an wobble disc (oval ?..)..
But I change the two front disc and the symptoms disappear from one month.
Yesterday , on motorway near Lyon , on a descent , I use the brake gently ,and ... Wow... Bad returns in the steering wheel , only stopped when I press harder the brake..
The feeling is like the brakes are on/of quickly on only the left wheel..with the steering wheel make the bad dance.. Marco.

If you are fighting the steering wheel it's very likely that your steering rack ends (inner most likely) have play in them.
Start by jacking up the front wheels one at a time and looking for movement. hold your hands at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock if you have movement there its most likely steering. if you find movement at 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock it's most likely a wheel bearing.
As Beanie says sticking caliper or caliper sliders also a common problem.Paul Redding

Hi.
I'd check the steering rack end , nothing , and this parts had only 6 month..
But , you're right , I need to check again , specially the calliper..

are both sliders on the caliper free to move as they should ?
I have had experience when one is seized or partially seized this causes the caliper to twist on the pins slightly and induce a vibration or wheel wobble. You're not afraid of the dark are you ?

Yep , I'll check this . Good point.
But , I don't understand why a sized calliper can do this !?.. Like on/off braking..
If it's seized, the wheel be very hot , nope ?..
And it's not the brakes disc ( I changed the Lr one for the Borg & Beck end of August because I first suspected the brake disc..)Marco.

But if piston sized and do not move freely, or slides sticking so caliper cannot slide freely, you can get intermittent brake force, possibly giving the wobble you feel Altox GSM FBH controller thread

If I understand well:
When I press gently the pedal , there is.m, maybe , only one piston to move and apply the pads ?
That's why if I brake hard/normal , nothing happened !?
I need to understand Marco.

Yep , I understand . Big thanks Beanie
The pads are new and mount with cooper grease, but can't remember if I'd changed the sliders.
