Well I was away the last couple of days in Sweden but came home to find a whole load of boxes with nice things for the D3, looking forward to picking it up tomorrow and doing some fettling.1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

Pelyma,
I've always used the Range Rover on standard Pirelli Scorpions on shoots and never had an issue, so General Grabbers should be fine, I don't go mentally off road!1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

I bought a full set of seat covers and a bootliner from Customer covers, just had a look at them and I'm very pleased with the quality of these, much better than the INKA ones I bought for the Range Rover.
They have a soft cotton backing so the leather won't be marked by the covers rubbing on them, they are fully tailored and there's separate pieces for arm rests and head rests. The material itself seems a nice quality one too.
The whole lot, front and back seats plus full bootliner than extends to seats fully down was £129. You can't buy a genuine set for just the front seats for that.1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

I suppose it depends if you shoot just in a syndicate or play away. Playing away I've been caught a few times and would rather of had different rubber on if I didn't have to live every day with it. As an all-round tyre the GGAT were ok if a bit noisy, the ATRs were as good offload, but much nicer on but then getting them in 19s can be difficult, 18s seem to be much easier.
I've just reread this and I'm a bit shocked, I hope the wife isn't reading it DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

So spent the weekend deep cleaning the interior. Everything shampooed, vacuumed, scrubbed, washed. All leather fully cleaned and conditioned with Gliptone so looks and smells like new. All glass cleaned and then fitted all my extras
Colour coded mirrors, handles, side vent, grille, smoked side indicators, rear door handle colour coded with new black badge. Also fitted new D4 LED rear lights in black to compliment the grey.
Today I removed all the Brunel grey lettering, cleaned up the adhesive with the toffee wheel, then used a mix of tar remover, Meguiars compound polish and liquid wax before fitting later style lettering in gloss black. It already has a totally different look to it, much younger and fresher.
Then I set about fitting the custom covers boot liner. Very comprehensive it is too. Fits nicely. Should dog proof the rear.1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

The slightly larger 105mm LR oval badge arrived today, this one snuggly fits the D4 style after market style grilles.
So, inbetween the sleet showers today (WTF is going on with the weather?) I fitted that.
Just tidies up the front end a bit. In the odd light of this morning the Stornoway looked more like Orkney.

I love talking to myself
So, I took the D4 style grille off, masked it up and resprayed the centre part in gloss black, it looks way better now and it highlights the gloss black "DISCOVERY" lettering on the bonnet.
A new Brodit clamp arrived today for my iphone 6 Plus so I fitted that, very sturdy bits of kit, might get one for the Range Rover too.
Having a re-think on the colour coded handles, mirrors and side vent, so bought new ones in gloss black to try too, see which I prefer. The Hawke brand do them at a much lower cost than Powerful UK, and they are not branded with Hawke, so it's a win win.
Picked up my set of 19" alloys today that I am having refurned in metallic anthracite, very dark grey they will be. Going to put Duratracs on these. The dark wheels will really help highlight the grey and black theme I have in my mind too, hence changing my mind on the bits above.
Almost done my first tank of fuel in the D3 and absolutely love it. It wafts along very comfortably. OK, it's no speed machine but that's what I have the RR for. In fact, since owning the D3 it has highlighted how worn the suspension is on the RR, so that's going in the shop this week to be sorted
Noticed my AUX in socket isn't working so need to investigate that, probably a loose connection somewhere, Discoveries are not so easy to dismantle as a Defender, it's all plastic and clips instead of screws and bolts!
Will post a pic of the grille....1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF
