A bit more fettling in the good weather today.
Degreased all the door and tailgate shuts, then lubed the hinges, cleaned the engine with Gunk and then used some AG on the plastic work. Afterwards I used the Meguairs Ultimate wax on the door shut paintwork, an oft-neglected area on peoples cars.
Checked the torques on the wheel nuts after the re-balance last week, and then a quick Hoover out. It's looking mighty fine, exactly the end result I was planning.1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

That's charming. Really nice.
On all the other forums we have a mix of members, and plenty of well mannered banter and encouragement. Comments like that make me realise why the D3 forum has a totally different reputation, and now I've seen it for myself.
Just because a member doesn't do exactly what you would do isn't just cause for saying things like that. This car WILL be used offroad and getting dirty all over the winter, but as it's clearly not the shooting season right now I am prepping the car, in readiness.
If you look at the Defender forum, where one might assume all Defenders should just be beaten up farm hacks, there's a massive array of ownership types and we all get a kick out of seeing the differences, we don't take the .
On the Range Rover forum, where one might expect all of the owners to be prissy about their cars, we have a range of types, and some have converted them to off-roaders, and we all get along perfectly, it's a lively and informative forum and we share ideas, techniques and advice and we don't take the .

Take it easy...
I have followed this thread with interest.
Will admit to being a serial car cleaner (got the bug when I had a TVR pre children), and have just clay bar'd mine followed by Poor Boys Black Hole and Poor Boys Natty Blue was and sealant. Someone commented last week it looked like it had just been driven out of the showroom....not bad for an 8 year old bus!
I read this forum with interest, and have had some great hints and tips. There is a wealth of knowledge and helpful folks out there.
However....there is no doubt about it...it is very very cliquey. Which is a shame to be honest.
Cheers
Andy

Calm down Adam - you can see from this thread that there's plenty of following for what you are doing, but don't expect everyone to be posting on it all the time (referring to your tumbleweed comment).
Many days went by without your Defender thread having a comment on it but you didn't insult that forum by a similar expression of how quiet it was... so why here?
Taking one comment by Steve as a representation of the forum as a whole is a bit of leap, isn't it?06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Martin (et al),
I am very experienced in forums, and not just yours, and I have been posting on your forums for over 11 years and never had these issues.
I don't expect daily comments but neither do I expect to be treated like that. There have been other issues as you know Martin.
Let's just call it a day, draw a line and I'll say cheery bye. As requested Martin, please lock the thread, I won't be needing it any longer. I shall continue to enjoy the other forums but I think this one is not for me.
