Well, after much deliberation over a long period of time, I recently sold my beloved Defender 90 as it was impractical as a shoot day vehicle, too small and limiting, and I didn't want to pay the extra for a 110. A D3 seemed to suit the bill perfectly. I can carry more people ad kit in much more comfort (I loved Defenders but they are awful to drive)
I've had Series Land Rover, Range Rover classics, Sports, Full fats and Defenders and now finally, I get my first Discovery. I just love the practicality and comfort of the D3, enough kit to make it a car to go anywhere. Found on this forum it's a lovely 2008 in Stornoway, HSE, piano black cappings with full and comprehensive service history. It's had the services bang on all the time and cambelt done at 7years (rather than the 105K which some people wait for) Well looked after and just waiting for me to make my little changes. It's only done 85K so loads of life in it.
I've already been online and spent a small fortune on bits and bobs to fit over the next few weeks, and a friend of mine has a set of 19" alloys I am going to get done in black with General Grabber ATs on. The car will have a grey and black theme to it.
I pick it up on Saturday, so I shall post some pics along the way of the changes, as it's always useful for others to see how things look.
Items purchased:
Colour coded door handle covers, D4 style side vent, D4 style front grille, mirror caps, rear door handle cover, new black and silver LR oval badges for grille and rear door handle
Gloss black lettering all round to replace the standard Brunel grey
D4 LED black rear lights complete with resistors and smoked side repeaters
Full set of seat covers and boot liner
Still to buy:
Rubber footwell mat set
Dog guard (half height, much easier to remove than the full height LR items.
4 General Grabber AT 255 55 19s
Get my set of 19" alloys refurbed in gloss black

Great until you can't get on your peg because you can't open the doors If you are having a set of tyres just for shoot days I'd get a more aggressive tyre personally.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
