Hi all

Thanks for the very warm welcome back, great to see some familiar names still kicking about! Fond memories of the early days of DISCO3..

Ronp - I used to hanker after that black D3 you'd modified with the silver detailing and those trailblazing Zeon LTZs. What have you got now?
CFB - I remember Tong well, that was our first off road trip in the D3 and my Uncle got it properly wedged against a tree requiring a recovery exercise from both you and 10forcash. Does anything similar ever happen these days? I could make it down there easily.
SN - oh yes, that would have been our Renault Megan hire car which we ambitiously endeavoured to get on site at the event near Peterborough. I remember some of the D3s getting bogged down in the wet grass so we had no hope Laughing

Meanwhile back in present day, I got the windows tinted on the G4 today. WOW, what a difference. Really pleased with the aesthetic improvement and the black/orange contract.

I'll run this thread as a "My Disco" blog and post updates as I go. Got some off roading planned; visiting Carlisle next weekend so hoping to find some decent green lanes (none of those up here in Scotland) and then the Scottish LR club play day at the end of May Thumbs Up

Off to search for Duratrac psi's now!

Very smart looking combination. Thumbs Up If I may ask. Why did you change from a FFRR to a D3 and how have you experienced the transition?

To be honest it was never my plan to sell the Range Rover, but when I saw this G4 for sale it brought back a 10+ years of desire to have one, and it was a rare opportunity. The FFRR was a magnificent car but it didn't really suit me. I was too frightened to use it off road for all of its glossy green painted bumpers and silver side steps, and then I never really made use of its cruising luxury as I don't do high mileage.

Hard to explain but it just feels right to be back in a Discovery.

Was initially unsure about the transition as the FFRR is such luxury - massive sumptuous armchairs, heated wheel, two-tone leather everything etc. On reflection - I wouldn't go back. The D3 might not have all the oxford leather but it feels more 'cool' if you'll pardon that adjective. It doesn't quite waft in the same way as the FFRR but it certainly has more presence (the orange paint might have something to do with that though!).

Chris,

Lovely D3, I had similar hankerings, I always fancied a D3 for the shooting side of things to help preserve the RR.

I too bought an 08 plate, and am really pleased with it. Weirdly no one seems to care to comment much on it. Hey ho, I'll just crack on regardless!

Looking forward to seeing some interior shots of yours.

Cheers

Adam

Ps: sorry I didn't buy your RR! Thumbs Up
