My First Caravan
I'm looking at getting a second hand caravan. Preferably one from someone who is giving up so it has all the bits included. Apart from Autotrader and eBay what are the best places to look for ones on sale from private owners?
Looking to spend £4K for 4 berth (preferably with a fixed bed)...

Be careful if you get a bailey, about 2005 till 2008, I got a 2006, they have hairline cracks in back panel (top corner where marker lights are) where damp gets in, very common as it's a design fault

Our 2007 Bailey Pageant developed these cracks in the last year of warranty and Bailey replaced the whole back panel but I think damp is likely to be a serious risk in any caravan around the £4000 mark and if I was buying privately I think that I would be investing in a good damp test meter before I went to look at any caravan. Ours started to get water in round the top of the right hand front window last summer and it cost around £1300 to put it right.

Ere they do, its just not as common, when i was out in germany at the factory, they were showing us how they try to prevent it, and when it does happen, there filosofy is to treat and dress the crack, and then cover it
As has been said if you are going to invest in a damp meter, the only one to use, is a Protimeter, either mini or survey master, as for damp in general iv worked in the industry all my life and iv seen 3 week old vans literally pourin in with water, the other end of the scale iv seen 10 year old vans that are dry as a bone, iv got a 2004 coachman pastiche, dry as a bone, so dont let anyone tell you different it affects all years, and all makes.
