Infotainment Diagnostics

For those who are not shrinking violets, why not dive into the infotainment system hidden menus......see below:

IHU Diagnostics
The IHU has built in diagnostics functions accessed via hidden menus, to enable the technician to diagnose problems with the system. The diagnostics are grouped into three areas:
• Security
• Set-up
Access to the hidden menus, to the functions within the menus are not intended to give direct control to the customer and should, where possible, kept transparent [I love this bit!]

The following sequence outlines the process of entering and navigating through the Menus.

NOTE:
Exiting the hidden menu is achieved by turning the unit OFF, via the On/Off button at any time.

NOTE:
Head unit is assumed to be in OFF condition

• Press ON/OFF button.
• Within 5 seconds press and hold the On/OFF button for 10 seconds to access the SECURITY menu.
• A short press of the FF button (<2seconds) enters the SET-UP1 menu.
Exiting the hidden menus can be achieved at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button.

The following table details the hidden menus. Each screen is broken down into greater detail, within the relevant Hidden Menu Type.
IHU Menu Screens
Screen Menu Screen name Display
1 Security Security 1 Serial Number, VIN, Part Number.
2 Set-Up Set-Up 1 Tuner Set-Up. RDS, REG, AF General Set-Up.
3 Set-Up Set-Up 2 AVC, Market, Personalisation, Transit Mode.

• Fast rewind
In the Set-Up Menus, the only buttons that function are:
• Volume
• Fast forward
• Fast rewind
• Source
• Seek
In the test menu the only buttons that function are:

Hi Winger, hope you don't mind me splitting this from the thread it was in originally, thought it was worthy of its own thread Wink

Personalisation

Winger,
thanks for posting.
Have you experimented with the Personalisation menu? Do you know what this does and how to personalize the infotainment system?
thanks

Jim

It doesn't really do a great deal - after all, the equipment is hardly sophisticated.

It is just an extra set of controls that you can access - most related to information about the system....the set-up areas you can access directly without taking this route.

I think the most interesting aspect of accessing these hidden functions relate to display of software versions, and so on. With users experiencing difficulties it will be very valuable "ammunition" if you can go to a dealer and tell them categorically that you have a lower software release than another owner....

Most manufacturer installed in-car entertainment systems have similar hidden menus....I just thought that some people might like to have a fiddle, that's all. Whether you do, or not, is entirely up to you.

Does anyone have 'inside' info or contacts that allow us to find out what version of the LR OS we are all running ? Be great to compare what versions we all have and then see where all the common problems lie... or don't depending on version.
