Well to days the big day..do i buy a D3 or do i let the horror story's get the better of me. As much as i want this vehicle potential engine/turbo/egr/ compressor/suspension failure frightens me.

If you're that worried and having so many doubts before you've bought one

Walk away

On second thoughts, what if you cross a road, there may be buses or cars on it, you hear some horror stories about crossing roads

Thumbs Up

Compressor failure is relatively cheap and would be virtually covered if you get AA parts and garage cover which is relatively cheap. Suspension bushes will go on any car that is 6 years old or more (D3 age) as will anything else. Disco mikey isn't far away, just don't go to a dealer for work

The car has issues...clunking from the front which suggests lower arm failure, tailgate doesn't open, I'm told the belts have been change but no service history, Inter cooler hose split and appears to be repaired using jubilee clips and a piece of pipe, Its 3 different shades of silver, holes in the rear cloth and odd lights cut into the rear bumper (im told it used to be a convoy vehicle..wide loads etc) badges in the wrong place and horrible Range Rover Sport wheels. however it is a 2009 vehicle showing 124k so at £6200 its cheap Very Happy

Bought one very similar around a year ago for my stepdad.

05 "S" with 109k. We paid £5,500 with the known faults of:
EPB jammed, knocking suspension, needing tyres, brake servo fault, various other niggly issues and no service history.

These were duly repaired, and the car has run faultless for the last 12 months

The car was cheap enough to justify buying and repairing. As with any car, even one without known issues, it's a risk you take. If it's cheap enough, it gives you something in the pot to repair anything that does crop up in the short term Thumbs Up

If you can personally do all of the work and you don't mind different shades of silver then it may be worth a punt, however if you want something that looks good and drives well and you don't have the skills I would walk straight on by.

England 2010 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 GS Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 4

Is this the same car that you were asking about a short while back - owned by a female friend who was selling for £8k?

If so how come you're now telling us about things you didn't mention then??

Probably going to spend £1.5k or more getting things fixed & replacing RRS wheels etc. that means the HSE at Prestige is only £3.5k more & looks like a completely different class of car.

I know which one I would be buying & it wouldn't be in three shades of silver...

You pays your money & takes your choice though.
 D4 - Stornoway Grey
D2 V8 - Zambesi Silver (rust free JDM import 😎)
FL2 - Sd4 HSE
110 Td5 DCPU - Bonatti Grey - sold
FL2 Td4 - Zambesi Silver - sold
D2 Td5 - Epsom Green - sold
F1 Td4 - Giverney Green - sold
90 300 Tdi - White – sold BIG mistake should have kept it!
F1 Td4 - written off by a taxi!
D1 300 Tdi - written off by a Fiesta...
D1 200 Tdi - sold
90 Turbo Diesel - sold
Ser 2a SWB - sold and glad I 'got rid'
Ser 2 SWB - sold but wish I still had it!
