EGR valves

Hi all, i have a disco 3 aug 2008 and need advise on a blanking kit for the EGR valves as I’ve been told two different options. 1 is i can blank them off and 2 I can’t blank them off as its got a newer version engine to the previous d3 models. Any feedback / advise would be very much appreciated.

I'll expand on this question, if I may....?

What are the legal ramifications now for blanking out the EGR? Is it the same as removing a DPF? I.e. instant MOT fail? Will the Inspector know it's been done?

Hi, to both of you, use the search button above and have a look and good read.
There are soooo many topics allready regarding the same questions and subjects

You will find your answers quicker that way Wink

You can find quotes like this;

“ In a nutshell,
Pre 2007 blank away 15 quid fix
Post 2007 blank away and a remap/rewrite of the software, cost, I dont know but got to be 2/250 quid? ”

And

it is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. Removal of the EGR will almost invariably contravene these requirements.

The potential penalties for failing to comply with Regulation 61a are fines of up to £1,000 for a car or £2,500 for a light goods vehicle.”

Took me 2 minutes...to find and copy/paste
 Best regards
Harold
