Hard Brake Pedal - Only when left

Hi all,

Ive been reading a lot of posts on this and know the D3s have had a recall.

My D3 brake pedal goes hard when left overnight. Once its started it runs fine.

The gov site states I do not have any outstanding recalls etc.

So my questions are:
1. What does this sound like? Brake Servo? Vacuum?
2. Anyone managed to get anything out of LR?

Thanks Thumbs Up

Vacuum disappears overnight so assistance at the pedal is lost, hence it is hard.
Once you start the engine the pump re-establishes the vacuum assistance.

If your pedal is hard with the engine running, or the assistance is low, or you hear gurgling then you have an issue. If you want to get some comfort on the 'oil in servo' issue it is easy to dip the servo with a white cable tie.

Oh, I had the original issue, with an unmodified brake pipe setup yet still didn't get anything out of LR so don't hold your breath even if there is an issue.

That to me would say you have a slight vacuum leak and so long as the brakes work fine in daily use should not be of any concern.

I had the same issue but it gradually got worse to the point vacuum would decay over only a couple of hours being parked. . Changed all the vacuum pipes to eliminate the none return valves leaking but eventually a new servo was required.

So... With my clutch having no resistance for the first 1 to 2 inches of travel, do we think this may be related?

Clutch is unrelated to the brakes, your slave or master cylinder maybe failing.
