Sat Nav etc into a 2010 D4 GS

Having ticked off the first couple of upgrades on my 2010 D4 GS I am planning the next few, one of which I would like to be replacing the basic radio display with a sat nav & information screen from a higher spec car.

I have no idea how easy or complicated this would be so am looking for advice first of all on whether it is possible and then, if it is, what parts I need to source - I am guessing that as well as the screen itself I need the antenna for the sat nav but do I also need to change the blue tooth phone module as well, etc?

I am guessing too that I will need the services of one of the site 'gurus' with an IID Pro or similar to set it all up? - anyone close to Central Hampshire please?

Advice from anyone who has done this before would be great and a list of the parts (and part numbers) would be fantastic so I can start acquiring them ready for the big day.

Thanks.

Hi VVS210,

this is something us GS owners would all love to do (for me its more about 4x4 screen) ... but its harder than it first appears with MOST cables, amplifiers, and news to me this week; integrated Bluetooth in the later GS head-units

Here's some light reading to get you started http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic55969.html

If you can do it, or get it done, please let us know Thumbs Up

Cheaper to just buy a D4 with those things already there, I believe.

Dont know if you are interested, but I have a 2011 GS and the crap screen is driving me mad too.

So last night I ordered a Lenovo tablet 7", and today I have done the first part of installation!

I removed the small crap screen, and placed it further back, behind where the tablet will go. The only thing to worry about is if you need to pair a new mobile, but thats not very often!

Its all up and running, but at the minute the aux cable and power cable run down the dash. I will rectify that tomorrow, by wiring in a USB socket to place behind the dash (splice into to cigarette lighter wires) and move the rear aux socket to behind the dash.

I will probably end up putting the old screen into the top glovebox, I just need to work out how to put a hole in the right place to put the wires through.

Sorry to say I have given up on my idea of upgrading the GS to have satnav & just use my Garmin - all seems far too complicated to me, use of Land Rover tool #1 & spanners all OK but dabbling with electrickery Shocked

Google maps on an iPhone is slicker and quicker, no messing with the D4 electrics.

Nikki is right.

I actually use Tomtom go on my android device. Built in GPS so no wiring needed.
