Morning All,
I have been having on-going issues with my 2008 Disco 3 - not mechanically minded so rely on garage i have been using but not happy with what has occurred.
Main issue now is black smoke when accelerating altho unsure if this is related to other things - being a sensible owner, I had my cambelt replaced (a little late - as didnt know!) at 116,000 about a month ago, I then had loss of antifreeze and after taking back a couple of times they told me it was water pump which was replaced - continued to lose water and after more checks told me it was a split pipe, this was replaced, still leaking - told new antifreeze will find new leaks - now traced to pipe that cools EGR valves - could this cause the black smoke (have tried heavy duty cleaner in diesel to no effect
Also heater sometimes send out cooled air as though in air conditioner mode
Sorry long winded but having a nightmare!

Top intercooler hose split? Open the bonnet, its the large hose on the left as you look in, give it a squeeze and look carefully for a split, loads info on here and a relatively cheap fix
ps Welcome to the madhouse!

So the garage in question say they have checked the intercooler pipe and not found any splits - I was under the impression that this can only be done if the inner wheel arch is removed??? (i can tell this has not been done)
Is this correct or could they have checked another way if it was up on a lift??

You can remove the complete pipe without removing the inner wheel arch liner.
Access to the top is through the open bonnet and from below there is a cover effectively between the inner arch and the intercooler. Removing that gives access to the bottom.
You don't even need a jack to change it.
