I am probably a bit thick, but why if the EPB needs so much servicing did they bother with it on an "Off Road" vehicle. What was wrong with a handle.
Is it perhaps they only found out it was a problem after they had the cars in service. If that is the case, it is a design fault which they have covered up with a lot of extra special services. It's like saying you have to replace the seats every 6 months if you bounce up and down off road, surely you should build better seats to start with.

Interesting that the FL2 I had as a loaner (while they finished painting my D3) has a traditional handbrake. I presume because the design team didn't want to build in any known duff parts !! "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

The Arduous Service Schedule (We'll call it A.S.S. for short) involves services every 3,750 miles.
Service 1 is an oil change plus strip, clean, adjust and reassemble EPB
Service 2 is all fluids change, plus strip, clean, adust and reassemble EPB
Service 3 as 1, including strip, clean, adjust reassemble EPB
ND, I'm at Land Rover Experience tomorrow.
Their D3's must take a bit of pounding!
I'll ask them how often they have them serviced.
That'll be a good one to bat back to LR if it's non A.S.S.
I'll also ask about EPB performance -considering they're in water every day.
Will report back tomorrow. .

Cheers Ron. I think TFC mentioned they (EPBs) do get rather a lot of attention at LRE but would appreciate any feedback you can get Don't Panic! Everything will be fine.... inflation is only 2.5% 3.0% 3.3% and the flying pigs are carbon neutral

Sorry nothing to do with that company. Your laugh when I tell where the name comes from. As you may have read in another post I have just bought (delivery any day) a used TDV6 S Auto and there weren't any decent local one's when I looked so I had to search "countrywide" on the websites, so it kind of stuck.

Of course you can. I still don't know why they did fit an EBC instead of a handle, the only time I would of thought it was of benefit is off road for hill ascents and things like that (but obviously not muddy, damp or dusty hills)

As I have mentioned elsewhere, mine has been in for some warranty work including the EPB issue and they fitted new shoes and a modified clip of some sort, under warrranty and at no cost to me.

The problem is chap, is that some of us have had this done already and the park brake is failing again, again and again....
it is a recognised design flaw that LR are not (at present) prepared to do anything about, but are quite happy to fleece customers with for increased service costs for maintenance.
Personally i'd be happier with a ruddy great handle to pull on my left hand side and know it's gonna work.

I see your point!
I only hope that I am not going to join you in the quest for a park brake that works, since mine seems to at the moment and there must be others out there that do too.
At this rate some of us should have dedicated parking places at the dealers!
How long do you think it will be, before someone designs a manual version useing the manual release cable point?!

Trouble is, you pull the cable to release, not apply. A Belgian racing team came up with a manual park brake on a car they prepared for the Paris Dakar recently Don't Panic! Everything will be fine.... inflation is only 2.5% 3.0% 3.3% and the flying pigs are carbon neutral
