Whilst not wanting to put a slur on the LandRover brand, how do people feel about individually writing to WatchDog about the on-going EPB issue?
I have NOT had major issues with the EPB (yet!) but I've only done 8-9000 miles. I am very concerned about it exhibiting either of the traits which seem to be
1) creeping forward of the car when in stationary traffic in drive, with the EPB on
2) the squeeling/sticking as it gets out of adjustment range
I have experienced 1) on a couple of occassions, but cured by putting my foot on the brake to stop it momentarily , then it seems to be OK when I release. No big drama & it's just like not putting the handbrake on properly in a normal automatic car.
It seems that LR are willing to push back as much as possible to each customer rather than find a more permanent solution, unless we really do something about it. I'm serious about this, I love this car, but I don't want to have my kids in it & SWMBO driving somewhere & getting stuck or bumping into someone/rolling down a hill etc.
What do you think? It's easy to do, just e-mail to watchdog@bbc.co.uk TDV6 HSE Black, Black Wheels /MTR's, Black RRS front/rear LR badge (tbf) Black Leather, Black Glass, Black TowB, Shiny Tasmods, Dull Mantec, White (& Orange) Reflective D3 Sticker, Black steering wheel badge, black air intake. Optima & Traxide dual battery setup.
Need black RRS wheel centre caps.
Now with added Engel.....
We D3, therefore we are..........

I'd be interested to see how many people have had the problem. There're 3000 people on here, but I'd be surprised if more than 20 have mentioned it? Black Betty Tunisia 1 2 3 Power by

That's what I thought, but there's more than one issue here. We have the squealing when applied, the handbrake not holding.....
Any other topic headings? Black Betty Tunisia 1 2 3 Power by

Had the orange EPB fault light on a couple of times and brake not applied. Cured after a 'reset' ,i.e switch off and switch back on.
Must admit I don't use it much (auto) as i don't want it to stick on which, as I understand it, is one of the EPB 'features'.
Attitude displayed by LR is just not acceptable. If they want repeat business and to attain a quality reputation they have just got to stand by their product.
Seems to me they are just starting to overcome a reputation for poor reliability and quality, this is not the way to continue that improvement.

Ive never had a problem with My EPB and Ive had it 12 months. but then, I hardly ever use it. I tend to leave it in "P" and only used then EPB if on an incline.
I guess I should take it to bits and check. I'll add it to the long list of other jobs Duncan

Remember LR had a recall of some early 06 build auto D3s and RRS because the transmission would be in park, the dashboard selector would say "p" but the pin wouldn't have properly engaged. A few runaway cars later.....
On the subject of recalls, the Jag S-Type was subject to a recall because of problems with the EPB, although this was due to the brake coming on when driving, not failing to engage. Hmmm, Jag S-Type, Land Rover, Jag, LR.... common parts do you think?
It would appear they have a system designed for and suited to town cars and have fitted it to an offroad vehicle. Only now it seems they are saying it isn't an offroad vehicle, just a heavily over-engineered MPV. wd40 has lubrication properties similar to spit. And what's good enough for the girls...... Going, going...... Gone!

LR Customer Relationship Centre have taken details and are going to talk with Technical. The lady I spoke with hadn't heard of the A.S.S and seemed surprised that the Techs should be expecting the car to be serviced so frequently under such mild operating conditions. She's hoping to get back to me late this afternoon. wd40 has lubrication properties similar to spit. And what's good enough for the girls...... Going, going...... Gone!

I thought the EPB comes on everytime you take the key out of the ignition, does in my manual 07 at least. Its got to the point where i rarely ever actually manually apply or release via the switch but its still operating

Does it not engage automatically at switch off then releases on drive away ?
If so, then you would not have 'actually used' if you see what I mean.
sorry missed the post directly above this

And a trip to Boughrood, then over Elan Valley would be considered an Extreme A.S.S. then
