The Arduous Service Schedule (We'll call it A.S.S. for short) involves services every 3,750 miles.
Service 1 is an oil change plus strip, clean, adjust and reassemble EPB
Service 2 is all fluids change, plus strip, clean, adust and reassemble EPB
Service 3 as 1, including strip, clean, adjust reassemble EPB
ND, I'm at Land Rover Experience tomorrow.
Their D3's must take a bit of pounding!
I'll ask them how often they have them serviced.
That'll be a good one to bat back to LR if it's non A.S.S.
I'll also ask about EPB performance -considering they're in water every day.
Will report back tomorrow.
LRE D3's only do a max of 8k in it's lifetime at LRE.
therefore doesn't get main dealer service.
'Services' are done on site every Monday [with daily routine checks].
As Disco Dunc mentioned, LRE don't use EPB except on inclines and declines.
They don't use EPB for normal stops - due to water ingress.
Got my wrists slapped for using it on the flat!!
Sorry if this is of no help ND. Blessed are the cracked, for they shall let in the light.

Well, here is the reply from X-Eng:-
"Dear Jon,
Interesting thread. I had no idea the problem was so bad - although
you were not the first person to mention it.
Sadly, nobody we know has either a D3 or RR Sport (which I presume
has the same arrangement?). I've never actually seen underneath one
and none of our parts / service books go beyond D2's.
I presume that the motor assembly itself is reasonably reliable? I
guess you don't want to have to fins a location for a lever in the
cab either way!
Do you know what type of transfer box D3's have? Or whether the
mounting holes for the drum are similar to earlier Land Rover models?
If you or one of the forum members has an old drum and cable / motor
+ cable we could get a look at, I think we could probably put
something together pretty quick! If one of you is prepared to be a
Guinea Pig, they will get the product for free as well as any updates
/ mods for the life of the product / ownership of the vehicle.
One way or another, we are very interested in finding a solution!
Kind regards,
Si"
So, there you go - any volunteers?
Jon

That's a positive response from Jon. I'll talk with the dealer to see if they have any parts they've replaced that aren't needed by LR Warranty Claims for inspection. I'm going to get a call from LR tomorrow to advise the outcome of their discussions with the techies so may well put myself up for guineapigging. wd40 has lubrication properties similar to spit. The park brake fault was caused by the battery voltage being low (again), they did however say that the EPB had been stripped and cleaned. If there were any more problems with it (screamers etc) to let them know as they would sort it under warranty. Zambezi Silver TDV6 HSE, Privacy glass, Side steps and Maxxraxx 5 Bike carrier.

Just to add my pennys worth, my disco has not been off road, only grass, but have had several park brake problems! First time they just cleaned and reset the brakes, then checked them a second time. Third time about month ago new shoes and clip, problem sorted (not) two days later the scream again! Does this about once maybe twice a week but not stuck on for a while. Had it back again to Hillendales again could not find fault even let the tech take her home to replicate the problem, but they had gone through the procedure again so am monitoring the problem. Still after 3 visits and endless questons about getting my satnav to work on the move! Finally found software problem with my dvd unit and LR warr are supplying a new unit FOC, goes in on monday, result. Plus bought new 2007-2008 dvd that they wanted £149 + for less than £50 off ebay! now just need the postmen to get it here! Hope this helps the tread
Oily Road Rallying guys keep it up all night!
