GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picked my Disco up on Thursday last week after steeeler had had it four days. No faults.
Drove home, no faults.
Tatted around over the weekend, no faults.
Tuesday, driving down to Somerset drop down a couple of cogs coming out of a village, massive clutch slip, BING-BONG, EPB faul on the message centre, yellow EPB fault light on.
Phone steeler to have a moan, eventually get put through to a "man who can" rather than the front desk girl, and we discussed the lot. He was out last week, so had to look at the job card (not filed away yet so he could actually see it) "Hmm, you say this happens a couple of days after you've hit standing water or its been heavy rain, hmmmm, must be water getting into one of the connectors down there somewhere (muttering under his breath), we'd better get it in and have a look"
So its back to the steeler again, another couple of days with one of their cars (let's hope its not a Freeloader...) and see if they can get to the bottom of it this time.
I love the car but not the EPB, the ***** warning light is driving me nutz, and the loss of the revering lights is a real pain - especially when turning round in my brother's yard last night......

Greece 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 Base 5 Seat Auto Java Black

at the mountains of kavala in greece a nissan navara was tight with a rope by a tree. we keep it not to fall a cliff because of the icy road. With my 17'' scorpion tyres (ice) i pick up the navara.
And then the problem start, when i run with my disco3 usually on grade, when i stop to park i pull the park brake and it start screaming, and sometimes i have to close the engine, wait 5 minutes and then i can drive, because it stacks.
sorry for my english!!!

sounds like your problem is the gear position sensor not the EPB (the warning light is a 'cascaded' fault) does the gear indicator change instantly when you change gear or is there a lag of a couple of seconds?

Better english than my greek Bow down Bow down Bow down

The EPB problem often appears when the car is in low range or under load/strain. If it hasn;t been adjusted properly, the extra strain seems to trigger the scream Sad

Last time in they are supposed to have replaced the "X-Y module".
The gear indicator takes a few seconds to come to life after each change and at low speed is simetimes a bit intermitent (comes on, goes off, comes on......).

Parents are going through the process of buying a disco 3 for me, went to Ripon Farm services last week to enquire about buying one second hand and quizzed the salesman there about the EPB problems. He said that landrover have now fixed the problem and cars are very rarely coming in with the problem now! I found this very hard to believe and he got one of the service engineers to come over and talk to me about them. He said that they have only had 5 vehicles come in with the problem in the past 5 months, thats one a month which i feel is pretty high!!

Even with the problem is the new dico 3 a wise buy? am only 18 and would love a Landrover, have wanted one for 3 years now. Partially considering a new Freelander 2 because of the manual handbrake brake, i dont want to be spending most of my time in a landrover dealership aiming to sort out the problem as i clearly want to be out driving the thing! Very Happy any persuasive comments to discourage me from getting a new freelander 2 and buying a disco!

Welcome bucksta
Lucky Censored Wish I had the D3 as a first car. Big Cry
Better late than never though. Very Happy
Depends what you want, strange idea to knock back a D3 just coz of the handbrake.
Check the EPB poll and you will get a good idea of the pevelence of failure.
I f you really don't need a D3 get the freelander.

Discovery just been recovered with an EPB fault! Can disconnect via emergency release cable but it locks on again, once reapplied. Have spoken to dealer and he thinks it may be a brake pad fault as I have noticed huge amounts of brake dust on n/s rear wheel this last 2 days. He idicated that calibration of system could be upset if pad wear excessive or pad has started to disintegrate!

Will post again once I know what has caused it.

I would consider it a mild irritation rather than a show stopper. Don't let it detract from the overall brilliance of the vehicle Wink Buy one Thumbs Up

Memorise this phrase for when you are talking to your dealer:

"Adjustment? How does it need adjustment? Oh, it's worn..... so that's pad wear on a pad that is only meant to come into contact with a stationary drum. Sorry, can you explain how that happens please?"

If nothing else it will get them on the 'phone to LR Tech Thumbs Up

I have had one for a few weeks now with no problems, make sure you get one from a LR dealer or one with warranty on it in case of any problems.
You could get an auto and just use park instead.

Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry SWMBO got as far as the gate this morning and that s where she sits, the D3,not the missus.Far too cold.EPB stuck on. Waiting patiently for LRA to phone back.Had our 45,000 service done on Friday.Could it be related. Stealer says not.Mmmmmm......Will give progress report. WOW That was quick. I didn't even get time to finish my post when LRA phoned and said they should be here in 30 to 40 minutes and said that if they cannot fix the problem on site that we will get a loan car for as long as our baby is in the dealers. Sounds good so far.
