LRA arrived on time and were most helpful. Unfortunately they were unable to fix on site so the D3 is in for some TLC. Still can't help thinking that this problem is in some way related to the service on Friday. I have informed the dealer about the brake pedal going right to the floor as we were winching it onto the recovery truck. The car hire company (Enterprise) were a little slacker in their response.Let's just say the car was not delivered to our house, automatic instead of manual as requested and about two hours late.An S Type Jaguar, black, covered in muck and carrying quite a few scratches. At least SWMBO now realises how good the D3 is.LRA phoned me several times to check on the progress of our delivery and seemed genuinely concerned at the delay. Meanwhile the dealer is to get back to me to let me kow how the repairs are going.Thank for warranties is all I can say. _________________ Discovery 3 TDV6 SE 2005 Tonga

I've just got mine back from the steelers again. Its got to go back in as they are still in "head scratch mode". It sounds as if the fault is not the EPB itself but something to do with the clutch or the tranfer box, or the gear selector, or one of the sensors in that area - so glad this is under waranty.
On the bright side I do get to drive lots of newer Discos and see what they've added/removed/changed, and how thirsty or not they are - today's is the start on the not-thirsty front, but it was black - nice if you like black.... _________________ Rob Smith

D3 back a few days now. It seems to be ok. EPB module ????. I tried in vain to get hold of the service manager and was only informed that the vehicle was ready when I was asked if I wanted to leave a message.Glad to get the D3 back but even gladder to get rid of the Jag as SWMBO was getting far too comfy with the auto gearbox Permagrin restored _________________ Discovery 3 TDV6 SE 2005 Tonga

Apologies if it's been covered elsewhere in this short post!
Can the EPB be 'disabled' .. for example, if the brake were to bind or jam on, is it possible to slacken an adjuster to release the drums, and can a fuse be pulled to stop the application of the EPB, or does this nobble other functions too?

Yes DaveT would be nice to know if this could be done ,even temporarily, just to move the vehicle from some of the odd places it may choose to stop. We had to use skids to get ours onto the recovery truck which was a slow process and we were lucky we were on a little country road as we blocked it for over an hour. _________________ Discovery 3 TDV6 SE 2005 Tonga

EPB can be released if jammed by pulling cable loop that exists just under the EPB switch. remove the small screw and lift up the switch, the cable loop should be there - insert a screwdriver/pen/stick for leverage and pull hard! _________________ What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

Yep, know about the release pull thingy (good for slicing your finger on). Mine didn;t take too much effort.
What I want is to be able to disable it completely when its f-ing about. _________________ D3 number 3: 08 TDV6 SE Stormygrey /owlpacker

The screams were getting louder, more frequent and more embarrassing, and as I won't be passing through Yeovil until August I booked the D3 into the local dealer today. When the techie moved the car into the workshop the place came to a standstill; they had never heard an EPB scream that was so loud and even the guys in the showroom nipped out to see what was going on!
Credit where it's due; they seem to have got it sorted and are 90% certain that it will remain fixed.

This must have been covered before, but if you had the brake locked on, could you not take one or both rear wheels off and manually wind off the brakes a couple of click through the access hole on the adjusted to get you going ? _________________ Silver TDV6 S with sat nav, PTI and Moosed up a bit

After my EPB was fixed in October it's been faultless until Sunday when I had a screamer. As with many of my previous instances, the car was pointing up a reasonably steep incline on the footbrake, I applied the EPB, put the car in Park, released the footbrake and the car dropped back as it settled on to the EPB and Park Pawl. Started howling as soon as the car dropped back.
13,000 miles since the whole lot was replaced under warranty
I've been advised the LR are now telling dealers they can only warranty the EPB if the vehicle is under 12 months old, otherwise it's a service item at customer cost. Any legal minds on here able to suggest how we as a group take LR to court over this here in the UK? I don't want them to pay to repair the damn thing every time it fails, I want them to redesign it so it works!!! _________________ Don't Panic!
