Had my first squeal this morning....in a small traffic que for 15 mins or so and heard something like someone diamond cutting floor tiles...flicked the parking brake on and off a few times and it's seemed to clear for the time being. Brake never stuck on, just made a horrid high pitched whining noise while on the move which stopped when the vehicle stopped.
Will phone the delaer later and get thngs checked out I suppose. Keeping it Claret and Blue

Only had one problem when towing 1.75 tonne caravan on long run on hot day in France. Stopped for diesel and when restarting got warning light for EPB failure. Carried on for another 100 or so miles and next day, bobs your uncle it had reset. That was nearly two years ago and no fault since.
Still the best towcar by mile!!! TDV6 7 seats Zambezi Silver

yes i think so...if the french can manage to not to fudge it up, surely LR can do the same.
OT - test drove a Yaris today with their MMT gearbox, tried to pull away with the handbrake on - oops!
My park brake is though, keeps screeching and failing, bloody nuisance...and so to the dealers! 2006 D3 HSE

I am taking my disco in again tomorrow, because the park brake has failed again. I had to manually release it using the emergency release 4 weeks ago and then had the brake rebuilt, and now it has happened again.
I thnk that they will replace the servo unit again tomorrow, this will be the third time since I have owned the vehicle. i am starting to think that I am doing something wrong with the handbrake, but I can't think what. keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Hello Everybody - im a new member so please forgive me if I post in the wrong place etc.
I bought my D3 a year ago after several 'sports cars' - my business needed something much bigger!!
I bloody love it, however, since last May I have had the EPB seize on, its also needed a new Turbo and then a new Intercooler.
However it was all done under the warranty by Guy Salmon Stratford - very helpful and they even gave me a HSE with 15 miles on clock to play with while they put it right!!!
I think thats it isnt it!!
My mpg at the minute is 34-36 and I have 55k on the clock - really opening up nicely!!
Speak to you all soon. Comrade Brown you can have my 4 x 4 when you can prise the keys from my cold, dead, fingers!!!

Cheers Craig,
I should mentioned mine is a used 05 TDV6 S. Mainly motorway miles.
One tip from my old rep car days - with any diesel this has worked.
Sometime during a journey, prefereable when your not loaded, and the car is nicely warmed up, nail it in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. All they way to the rev range. Obviously only when its safe to do so.
If you monycoddle a diesel you wont get the best out of it, so do this once ot twice a week and it will improve mpg and throttle response.
Im no mechanic but its starting to prove dividends on my old work horse!!
Cheers. Comrade Brown you can have my 4 x 4 when you can prise the keys from my cold, dead, fingers!!!

The EPB system has been a recurring problem. Initially replaced after 12 months when the car was completely blocked, then completely replaced again with a modified system at 27 months when blocked waiting at traffic lights on a dual carriage way. Failed again two days later. Now at 29 months, the car is again with the dealer waiting to have the problem addressed when it locked whilst waiting in the middle of a major junction on a hill. Between 12 and 27 months, permanent squeaking of brakes when crawling in traffic.
Brilliant car, but considering selling due to the unreliability of a hand brake - unless a suitable solution found. Any solutions would welcome them.
Thanks

Any news of the X-Eng X-Brake? Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Hi
Just had my first screamer not the kind of screamer I had hoped for but heyho!
I have an auto SE. So my question is - Is it OK just to use Park in future and not touch the EPB
Regards

Peanut - yes it is OK to just use Park. Does put more strain on the pin in the box, AFAIR....
However, your car should still be in warranty so get it back to Sh!tstones and get it sorted.
They should know about it, as they did mine first time round, and if they mess you about try Guy Salmon on the A45 and get Lynn in service to sort you out.

Mine has screamed a few times lately and the hand break failure light came on which got me in a real panic. Phoned the landrover garaged we purchased it from they are telling me that the EBS is not their problem to resolve. Can anyone give me some advice i have had the disco since dec 2007 and it's still under the approved waranty from the landrover dealer. It has done just over 60k the garage maintain that the noise is probably due to wear on the hand break discs. iS THIS RIGHT someone give me some advice please.

Hello Guidedog2 and welcome.
Not had any screamers myself, but thee are pleanty that have. Most have had their problems attended to by LR dealers. If yours won't look at it, try a different dealer or Land Rover Customer Services. Sharks: Natures way of telling surfers to get a job
