I never had any squealing noises until i changed my brakes (discs and pads) back in Decemeber. Since then i have taken it to the dealer some 5-7 times. They say they clean, adjust the EPB and all but after a couple of days of use, it's back again.
Last time i took it though, the maintanence supervisor told me that a new bulletin regarding the EPB squealing has been released but they're waiting on the parts to arrive.
Until then i have to live with it

It'll be interesting what the bulletin recommends. If you get a chance to read it Ali, post it up.

wish i had read this thread more closely before...the car has been creeping forward on occasion for a couple of months now after applying the EPB and I never really thought much of it...
As of an hour ago I now have a car with screaming EBP that locked on at the traffic lights, had to manually released, and now doesn't work at all... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

This is what we intend to find out... keep the votes coming.

My one started screaming again, not every time maybe three times a week. No lock up but just the slightest slip forwards after aplication. Might try to get to the stealer tomorrow. Don't have the facilities to go at it myself. '05 Silver Commercial S+

:thumbsup:Hi,
Have you tried holding the Handbrake button down in the off postion, and whilst holding it down removing the keys, this disengages the Electric park brake and leaves it off, but if you are having problems, you will have to turn it off everytime like this untill you have it looked at, sounds to me like they need to have the brakes re-set on the adjusters?
Hope this of some help,
Neil.

Up until last week I had not had any issues with the EPB.
But low and behold on Monday it started to scream so I now don't use it.

Hi John
You can still use it, to stop it screaming just dont apply the park break, Hold down the button when you turn it off & keep it pressed down whilst you remove the key, but dont forget to leave it gear. But you will have to remember to do it this way everytime you turn off.
And make sure you have the Disc's checked out for wear before anything else
Good Luck with it

| Electronic Parking Brake Issues |
|
Having read all the posts on the EBP is it me or have LR got it a bit wrong.
Just had 75K service on my TDV6 SE Auto and have been told that i need to spend nearly £250 to have the thing stripped down, cleaned, reassembled and adjusted to stop it braking!!
After all it is a over evolved handbrake but £250 - I was wondering can it be taken to anyone else, other than a LR Repairer or does it need to be carried out by LR Technicians? javascript:emoticon(' ')
Thinking it might be easier just to use 'Park' and a house brick if the hill is too steep!
Has anyone else had to have this done?

About 50% of us at some point, although some cars seem better than others.
Worth contacting forum member 10forcash for a quote on EPB adjustment. He has the technology......

3rd time mine has gone wrong - this time there was no warning, just a quick squeal and it locked up. Not even LR assist could free it manually or diagnostically.......so........a 3 1/2 hour trip home in the transporter and a wait for a replacement car tomorrow
Thankfully it was in a car park rather than out on the road when it went.

I hope they shut your drivers door and window before they took it away
Mine'sbeen screaming for a while, but mainly it does it when I park up.
Apply the EPB select Park then all is fine until I shutoff engine and remove keys
Then it lets rip Stupid thing 42.25 feet of sheer luxury ...

All secured before she left .
Despite the sheer brute force applied by the LR Assist man to try and free the cable it stayed put. He said it was the first one he had that had completely stuck.
