I've just had my EPB fixed for the second time on my four-and-a-bit year-old D3. The first time it was paid for on the warranty but this time I had to fork out around £150 even though I have taken out the extended warranty. They say it doesn't cover adjustments. Mine spends 95+% of it's time on the road, I just sometimes have to head off down farm-tracks. The screaming was just awful: really embarrassed my kids! Several times it locked on at junctions & traffic lights.

Hi, I have just purchased a 09 XS , has the problem been resolved on the later models or should I still expect problems?. Thanks Chris.

Still expect problems....though if you do not go off-raod then expect less problems...
(Mine goes in on Thursday - second time this year...and the dealer is going to have to dig through the mud to get to park brake... ) The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."

Squeeky brakes. First time the rear discs (rotors) were replaced; second time a clip was found to be missing but both times fixed by Stratstone under warranty . But... noticed some squeeking when car is hot again, so will get it looked at again.
Car is 2 yrs old but I've only had it since August. Andy C

Difficult to believe that the D3 EPB is a feature of the D4 Clubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. ReMap, BSS., RLD Personalised SWP., Safari Snorkel, Faultmate, Three Musketeers & MUD

Yes, but does it work?
..............and can it be applied to the D3? "A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both- and deserve neither"

If it works and can be fitted to a D3 I would be interested. I've had 2 lockups in heavy traffic and 2 instances of constant screaming this year already. Fortunately I know how to overide the problem but driving around without the use of a park brake isn't ideal, particularly on a manual. Dealers charge 1.8 hours labour to clean and adjust. How do you overide it Phil? It's darned annoying in traffic when everyone looks at you and you risk stalling at the lights...
Mine's off to be sorted (third time lucky...) next week. Andy C

If it's just the screetching issue hold EPB lever down before switching off. Keep lever down until you remove key.
When starting, foot on footbrake, hold and keep holding EPB lever and turn key.
If it locks on sometimes the above sorts it Clubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. ReMap, BSS., RLD Personalised SWP., Safari Snorkel, Faultmate, Three Musketeers & MUD

It stopped mine screeming. "A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both- and deserve neither"

I am responding with regards to my older 56 plate XS Auto.
Had the screamer fault three or four times in the 2 1/2 years I had it.
The vehicle was never used in anger off road, just caravan sites and the odd field or two.
The last time the dealer tried the old, it needed cleaning out so it isn't covered under warrenty trick,, but I pointed out that it was mid way between service intervals, and expected a 30k vehicle to be more reliable than that.
Was eventually done FOC before I went away on holiday with the caravan.
Once on site, the brake squealed again as soon as low range was selected.
The fault did not occur in high range.
This seems to discount the cleaning out theory, as I had only driven 350 miles since it had been fixed.
Presently driven 1,000 miles in the new one with no problems, but I don't expect the P&Q to last

Mine has new rear brakes (fitted after it went in the first time and covered under warranty) so that should not be the issue.
Will find out next week... Andy C
