Laughing thanks guys, I think removing them is the best bet, can't go covert when the sun comes out every time you open the door

If you still want something that illuminates, give IR illuminators a change Wink

Forgot to update this, well updated elsewhere as forgot about this thread. Embarassed Embarassed

Bought 2 boxes of these for the D4. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01EQU...&psc=1 They also ended up in the D3 replacing the cheap rubbishy blue ones.

New white one in middle with the old blue ones either side:

Front cluster all new bulbs:

Now used up three boxes over 2 cars. The dead ones were a bit of user error Embarassed and the contact wires needing shifted apart a bit to pick up the contacts properly. Very happy with them. Mr. Green

hi dsl

thks for the update

i felt such an idiot , ur lesson learned

never experienced that before , whilst the doors were open, pressed the middle row light that had the led in , the front one dimmed and then started to see smoke coming out of the centre one, was only around 3 x secs before i tore the led out quick, so don't think it's done to much damage but going to check

i can see me taking the headlining out to check all the way along between the lights

i had two different makes of leds in, wonder if that was why it smoked

plus found two further lights at the back either side , do they come on with opening the doors or manual on and off , as they don't work and will check the fuse first

thks ref the link, at least i know what to buy that will be safe this time Embarassed

these were the ones that caused issues with the wiring smoking after fitting them in the centre light console

The feedback mentions shorting, might be the problem you had.

is it hard to get the headlining out please , its in several bits isn't it

sorry asking dim questions but i feel really dim at the moment after making this mistake Laughing

to be honest i packed up for the day and thought a cuppa would be a better idea

seeing it's good fun getting to the fuse box thought i would look tomorrow and also haven't got any fuses

did order a selection seeing they were different from anything i had ,

will know more in the next few days

have ordered some more leds from the links provided , just a lesson learned in not to get ones with a metal surround , lol

Don't know if it will be an issue with these (or anyone else) but I couldn't get the LED bulbs to work in my D4 front puddle lights, no matter what I tried. Not polarity, I think it saw no resistance and thought it was a short so stopped any juice. No problem in the rears or on my D3 front puddle lights. Weird with a capitol WEE!!

Mine work fine in the puddle lights. Relatively cheap ebay ones.
