Phone Mode
Hi Guys I know that this has been done to death,but my radio has gone in to phone mode I have read all the instructions on here as to how to reset and how to take out, how to do a hard reset and just about anything else you can think off
I was wondering if anyone in and around the Leicestershire area might have a radio i could borrow for 10 mins so i could pop that in to see if it works and my radio is fubar or whether it tells me i have a more serious problem

One way is a loop back plug from ebay about a tenner, this will reconnect the optical cables together removing the phone module.
Another is the removal of the optical cable in the rear of the radio but you will have tried that if you have followed the other posts.
Last method is to loop a cable in the rear of the radio unit.
As my unit has gone into phone mode permenantly following a battery discconnect this is last option for me.

Pull the radio out and look behind there should be a loop and a connector there which go's off to the blue tooth you should be able to disconnect the blue tooth and leave the radio in the loop Discovery 3 se gone

Dave if stuck and down this way again in the next few weeks as the rugby is starting i have just swapped my sat nav out for a D4 screen so do have a few spare bits you could maybe try out but i am still using my D4 blue tooth modual as mine did not come with one Discovery 3 se gone

Ok so tried again today removed the Bluetooth and the radio did come back up with a radio station on it however there was no volume and as soon as I touched the dial it went back in to phone mode so I'm fairly sure it's the radio that's D3 in Buckingham blue now SWMBO's Mine D4 commercial

Not sure how relevant this will be but I had a similar issue after the car was left parked up whilst I was on
holiday for 2 weeks in the summer. The radio wouldn't work at all, then after removing and cleaning, I managed to get it back working but my right hand steering wheel controls had stopped functioning.
I've replaced the loom but no change and will now be putting in a new clock spring and wondered if this failing could have something to do with the radio getting stuck in phone mode.
I removed all the connectors, did a hard reset of the battery and connected the radio up one at a time with the MOST cable last and that cleared the phone mode but I was still left without the right side steering wheel controls workng.
The radio functions normally but is now old school manual.
Just wondering what other symptoms you have?

discogaz no other symptoms was working fine on all controls ,I left it overnight and it was like this in the morningD3 in Buckingham blue now SWMBO's Mine D4 commercial

Is this where the radio will only be in phone mode with phone + 1 symbol on the front? Had it yesterday and sorted it by rebooting the phone. Hopefully it won't come back.
