Time for a change maybe?
We have owned our 2008 D3 XS for a couple of years now and I am thinking of an upgrade, it makes no sense to have another D3 so its a D4 or stay as we are.
To my mind an early 6 speed D4 is a halfway house, thus its a 12 plate onwards or staying with the current D3 which has done me proud and covered 160k miles, had new battery, alternator and T/C. The only issue is a drone from the front axle I think its from diff but when I speaking to Woody32 he thinks the Grabbers on the front may be the cause to which I do subscribe because when I changed the rears it quietened things down, just reluctant to fit two new tyres to find out it is the diff all along.
So the burning question is stick or twist? What have/would you do when faced with this situation - keep or replace?
Thanks

I too have a MY09 D3 which i have had for over 6 years now, I had the terrible drone which I convinced myself was something expensive-it is the General grabbers on it! They make an awful drone on the roads on the Island, considerably less on the mainland. My indie spent hours trying to track down the noise and came to the conclusion - tyre drone. Like you I have had al the suspension bushes done, alternator & battery, torque converter and prop shaft. It had 17k on the clock when I bought her, it now has 109k. I would only swap it for a brand new D4 if I had the money. I have looked at some D4s but I am disinclined to take the gamble, mine does everything asked of it and quite frankly it still is my dream car. So the choice is yours, good luck whatever you do.Nick

Make sure you drive a few , I recently had an SE 2016 for a few days and it was no comparison to my 09 plate HSE I am so glad I didnt buy an SE 2014 a few year back and waited for my very low mileage HSE I would only go HSE now .
I'm with hocks, I'd have a D4 in a blink, but I would keep my D3 to take off road more
Bet that wasn't much help I'll keep my mouth shut next time2006 D3 HSE
