WHICH TYRES
Not sure which tyre to go for i'm stuck between Cooper Ltz (which are being discontinued in the EU anyway) , Atturo XT or Generals new AT3 to go on my D4, i do a lot of on road driving in all conditions and weather, and often find myself in fields pulling out stranded vehicles.
On my previous D3 i used to swap rims from the standard Goodyears to the Goodyear MTR which were awsum in the snow and mud but not so quiet on road However they got discontinued and out came the Duratorq which was the best of both worlds i had them on all year round!!!! But that was then on 19" so the task starts again what to put on my 20" not going to venture down the road of 2 sets again as for me i never had the right set on at the right time
So unless some one can throw an extra brand in the mix would greatly appreciate any feedback on any of the above mentioned tyres and recommendations along with your reasoning ?
Traction in the brown stuff is essential for me when going to tow anyone out, as not only does it avoid having to pull the winch out it also silences the doubters "oh what you going to do with this" DETERMINATION quickly becomes a real thing
If you've never been stuck you have never got far enough, when you do give me a shout!
Tried, tested and passed with distinction V8 Hse Disco3 sadly now retired, but the less thirsty D4 Hse Lux also with a discrete Warn Zeon 12 is now in service not yet tested!

Poor feedback on the Atturo in the wet.
So far all positive feedback on the new AT3.

It's useful to get some feedback on these. I always put wintracs on in the winter, could these be comparible with them? I appreciate that not one tyre ticks every box but just wondering if I buy these I can forget about having dedicated winter tyres.

My thoughts too, Sean. I can then have my usual motorway / summer / daily scorpions and a seperate set of winter / off roads

They look great and for sure a step up on the older AT but you will find driving on them will give you a better feel.
Mind you I like to squeeze the melons first before I select the ripe one.

gstuart: no I haven't tried Bridgestone Duellers, so can't comment on them I'm afraid.
On the subject of summer motorway vs winter offroad: if only life were that simple ....
I used to run GG ATs for the summer roads and offroad, then the Wintrac 4x4 Extremes for winter, but of course they were useless offroad (no grip and weak sidewalls), so if any offroading were needed in winter the ATs would have had to go back on.
The GG AT3 may well be a solution to this and, like Alan B, I am hoping that they can just stay on after the winter. They are already proving good in the cold and wet, and are as good or better than the GG AT offroad IMHO. They are quiet on road and as long as they wear reasonably well and don't completely ruin the mpg figures, they should be good to stay on. 2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)
2009 D4 HSE TDV6, Bali blue (first run D4)
2007 RRS TDV8 HSE, some blue

thks
quite understand it's such a complicated subject with many factors that effect the tyres
must admit am liking these cooper AT/3 , plenty of grip in the wet
but haven't been off road yet so will then know how they perform
will do around 80% tarmac 20% off roading , wished to not just have plain road tyres
just got to get another two for the backs
thks again
