Yes, another idiot question from me (Headlamps)
I have searched for info but I get confused
I have a 2011 Disco 4, and I seem to have Xenons, but thats it. Sidelights are normal and no DRLs.
Now, I can get pretty much any headlamps I like for almost free, so, if I get some from say a 2016 Disco, A Will they fit straight in and B will they work?

Needs new bumper for 2016 lights unfortunately.
PS And not an idiot question, the only idiot question is the one you don't ask.
PPS And how can you get any lights for free?

Well Philip
Howdy !
My name should have cropped up sometime last year ?....XK headlamps...?
If you assisted my issue - thank you
If it caused you grief...my apologies
But if that's your job why asking on here ?.....I would have had the top of the range through staff sales system....BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Staff sales discounts etc is all well and good, but you still have to fund the 50k or whatever to have a new one!
I like to buy my car's, and i would feel a little bit sick if i had a 50k loan for a car

There are no stupid questions. But there are a lot of inquisitive idiots.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
2012 - FL2 2009 GS Stornoway Grey
2001 - VW Passat Estate Inky Blue
1999 - Ford Mondeo Light Blue
1998 - Rover 25 Red
is there a definitive list of what headlamps should be on a given D4 ?
I'm asking because current car doesn't have any headlamp levelling adjuster inside the car and dealer said he thought there was except on the xenon equipped cars (which have to have auto levelling). when I look at the headlamps themselves, label says "non-level" or similar.
Are they the right units ?.

You do need the later grille, but 2014>> lights fit a pre 14 bumper, there's a very small almost unnoticeable gap where the grille corner and bumper meets
If you don't have fairy lights, you don't have xenons, IIRC all xenons have led fairy lights, but not al, have active cornering or infiltrate lights, the lens looks like a xenon as its a glass fish eye, but the halogen has the same lens with a 5w side light, very rare early landmark lights are halogen with fairy lights
So as for new lights, fill your boots

I've a D4 GS, came with poverty level Halogen, before that a D3 S again started life with halogen, neither had an internal leveller , with air suspension you don't need one, the car self levels to accommodate payload, there is a manual adjuster on all light units , you can set the height accordingly with that
I was spoilt somewhat by the previous D4 "GS" being oddball spec .. Xenons, leather seats (but not heated) for starters ... dealer suspects it was ex-demo.
On replacement, which is an XS, I've tried uprating the halogens but it's not noticeably better and I was thinking of LEDs but when I was picking up a DRL kit last week, someone came in bringing back mid-range LEDs and saying they weren't any improvement over Halogens ... so it's going to have to be high-end LEDs. But Xenons aren't much more than that £-wise.
Decisions, Decisions..
