I've got a limitied edition print of that picture, signed by the crew of XH558 on its final delivery flight to Brunt
looking forward to seeing the 'aluminium overcast' at an airshow this year. Sadly will miss RIAT, but will try for Waddington Air Show. Silver TDV6 HSE

I went to junior school near Farnborough and can still remember staring out of the window in awe as a vuclan went past with one Concorde engine fixed underneath the centre. (It might have been two engines in one Concorde style box - if you know what I mean.) Seemed to go around and round like this for weeks, totally shocking noise. I presume it was testing. Didn't get much work done that summer.
Brilliant sight.

Watched and enjoyed XH558 at Southport Airshow yesterday afternoon. A wonderful finale to an excellent show.
Last time I saw a Vulcan up-close and in the sky I was about 14 years old. Made me feel like I was 14 again yesterday instead of the same number with figures transposed......... The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Are you only 41 then ?
I remember the Vulcan's at RAF Cottesmore in Leics. Went to the local playschool on the airbase and have vivid memories of an amazing airplane

Looks like weather was kinder than expected as well
If anybody enjoyed the 607 Squadron book, try reading Sharkey's war - Sea Harrier over the Falklands - very different perspective on Black Buck but a cracking read
