| different plug configuration for export models ?? |
|
Hi,
i was very interested in this thread and ordered a Timer module a few weeks ago.
wanted to start with this project on my D3 this weekend, but i had to realize that there is already a wire leading to the connection pin that you have to connect to from the timer (There is a low quality pic in my gallery as proof).
So i am wondering if there could be some version based factory modifications (mine is from 12/04) or do the models differ (LHD to RHD, GB to GER).
Can somebody help me with that issue ?
Cheers
Andre

Has anyone fitted the Webasto T91 remote controller? I don't know how much they are, but I don't need a timer so would prefer to just fit the T91 rather than the 1533 timer and a Maplin remote control which seems to be the way a few people have done it so far. Anyone know where I can purchase a T91 - Google doesn't come up with any suppliers. Cheers. D3 TDV6 S 2005 - TorqTune, Privacy Glass, Remote FBH, 19" HSE Alloys, Boot liner, retrofit F&R PDC

The default timer duration on the Webasto 1533 is 30 minutes - has anyone experimented with the duration? I have mine on 25 minutes which gets it almost to mid position on the temp gauge on a mild day, but only just above the blue zone on a cold morning like today (1 deg frosty). Is there a point at which the FBH can't get the water any warmer (like after say 20 minutes of heating for example)?
I used the 1 channel remote from Maplin, attached to the 1533, all housed in an Ikea 'tupperware' tub. The 3 wires (GND, +12V, W-bus) pass through a blank gromment so it's well sealed, and works great even with the aerial wire left curled up in the remote box. The final job is to attach an LED to the OUT pin of the 1533, visible externally on the D3, to show when the FBH has been triggered bu the remote. Excellent mod - thanks for all the advice on here D3 TDV6 S 2005 - TorqTune, Privacy Glass, Remote FBH, 19" HSE Alloys, Boot liner, retrofit F&R PDC

Just about got all the gubbins wired together and ready to put it in the car. Thanks to Stapldm for the instructions - fantastic
Tell you what though, I won't give up my day job to be a professional solderer - bl dy useless at it! Took forever to solder the timer connections.
Anyway just before I proceed, a couple of questions for the technically gifted -
1. If I press the remote to start the FBH in the morning and then go to the car and it's still running, do I have to shut it down with the remote before unlocking the car or does unlocking the car sort it all?
2. Can you start the car straight away or do you need to wait for the FBH to finish it's purge cycle?

i have unplugged the FBH and left over night i have evn replced the timer with a known working one and when it went in for service i asked them to check the FBH was working and i qoute "all works fine" but i can not get it to fire from the timer has any one got any ideas as to how i can fault this or prove where the problem lies
