England 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Java Black

Took the rather nervous at being driven mother and father in law to Stansted. After 2 months of the mother in law living with us as the current Mrs BB presented me with a baby son in May and the M-i-l arrived a week before the baby Banging Head I can tolerate sharing my house for 4 weeks, just about, but after 8 weeks I had gone stir crazy Ner Ner Boy am I glad to see her back home, thats the trouble with marrying a foreign bird! Too far to travel for a weekend, so the relatives come for bloody ages.

I did however manage to get 34 to the gallon out my car, with 4 adults, 2 kids and luggage, cruise control to 75 and then M40, M25 and then Stansted, filled up in Oxford and when I got home it was still reading 33.8 mpg. Now thats chuffing good for a 2.7 tonne auto.

I still reckon its the best car I have ever owned Thumbs Up

Gave her a clean, checked tyres, fluids etc. all ready for a little trip on Friday. Going via the chunnel down to Monaco for a few days and then on to Spain for a week or so and then back to sunny Suffolk.

She has 2k miles on her now and has started to loosen up a bit so fingers crossed she stays reliable. Thumbs Up

Took the mantec plate & compressor cover off tonight. Jetwashed all the crud off the bottom of the car after the off road course at Billing at the weekend.
decided to do it today so I don't have to spend 3 hours on saturday before I do the brakes.

Should get Brake bits off of the Large One tomorrow, so will do those at the weekend.

One word of warning though, I found a very sharp peice of stone in the edge of the tyre rim. Managed to get it out before it pierced the tyre, but just a reminder to all to thoroughly check all wheels after off roading.

Let us know how you get on London Lad, have a similar trip (although to Italy) in a couple of weeks. Thumbs Up

Family have (rather, had) the D3 up north at holiday house and when getting in it at the sports club car park the engine wouldn't start and attempting would make it engage the Reverse gear Confused

It then wouldn't let them take the key out of the ignition, at which point all electrics stopped working - leaving the key stuck in the ignition and no way of locking the doors. Out of warranty now so no LRA, but a black picture was painted to the dealer who were supposed to have fixed a similar fault the previous week (for £200!) and they were eventually persuaded to come up north from Edinburgh and collect her, but it would take them 3 hours so the D3 was abandoned in the sports club car park unlocked and with the key in Laughing

Eventually the flatbed lorry arrived and had to squeeze in to the sports club car park (which is small) and caused havoc and chaos blocking everyones way.

No courtesy car. I think she gets returned this week so I'll try and post the results soon(ish)...

England 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Auto Buckingham Blue

Whizzed up to Washington (Tyne & Wear not DC) today - saw quite a few D3's - including a silver one with disgusting 22" rims at Scotch Corner Services Rolling Eyes

Was at the front of a convoy of two Rolling Eyes on the M62 this morning from Scammonden down to Brighouse - the driver of the 'plain' Java SE copped a great big look at my disco3 sticker for the duration

oh - and 280 miles at 24mpg dead Big Cry

Not really today, but more 'last week'...

Spent the week towing a large RIB round north Wales - major roads, v. narrow lanes (the route up to Llyn Geirionydd if anyone knows it!).

I tow a lot, but this is the biggest/heaviest thing I've towed to date. D3 was utterly superb - world apart from my old D2 which I used last year. Smooth powerful acceleration up-hill. Competent, stable, and very controlled low-box manoeuvring on slipways - superb. Major permagrin stuff.

Today, I changed all my brake pads, changed the brake pad sensors, adjusted the EPB, changed my MTR's for the original silver ones Big Cry , gave the black beast a quick wash & then collected my eldest on his return from his scotland camp...
Tomorrow I've got to replace a window, cut the grass, clean out the inside of the Disco, clean & feed the kids (new one on me!) change my 12v sockets & clean the MTR wheels before storing them.....
