Just back from a caravanning trip to Arisaig on the West of Scotland, fantastic time and the weather was decent. We stopped off in Aviemore for one night on the way over and I took this photograph to show how versatile the D3 is for carrying loads on the roof. 2 x kayaks plus a bike and room for more if required. Stick a 1800Kg timtent on the back and it still does 23mpg

Just back from a wine-buying trip to the Bourgogne. Took the D3 and had a great time driving up and down the hills, albeit on-road. Started at Chablis, moved onto Beaune and collected some Volnay, Pommard and Monthelie. It was nice to sit in a working cellar, tasting wine with the man who made it, and to taste the difference that even a couple of years makes to the taste of a wine.
Highly recommended, especially if you go into the villages and stay away from the tourist wine shops in Beaune.

Went exploring off of the old Route 66 in Arizona, East of Flagstaff.

The road has totally gone, and all you can see is the line of telegraph poles marking where it used to be.
And this old rusted out car - guess it died here and never made it home!
We found the original 'Cozy Cone Motel' from Cars - actually the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook AZ

There's even the original Hudson Hornet, rusting outside one of the concrete Wigwams!

Also great scenery, this is the painted desert, viewed from the Petrified Forest National Park

Over the last few days, I loaded up my D3 with 30 cases of wine plus assorted other bits and pieces, hooked up a trailer loaded with 2 commercil laundry driers and headed up to Impodimo Game Lodge in Madikwe Game Reserve on the Botswana Border. After unloading, I went to inspect a radio comms tower on the top of a local mountain, paid a visit to a local rural school and returned to find a large bush fire on the go. With no other tow vehicles immediately available, I hooked up the fire cart, loaded up some staff and headed off to the bush fire. ( standard tow hook makes towing offroad very unpleasant) but swopped the cart onto a defender when the opportunity arose. (besides, I didnt need anymore sicklebush rash on my car). Yesetrday, I hooked up the empty trailer and headed home. Total distance 872km. Total hassles :none apart from the tow hook off road .All in absolute comfort and safety. Still sitting with a permagrin though. Still looking for any excuse to drive the d3 overland and long distance Of course we'll make it... were in a landy!

Drove mine in and out of the showground at the Dorset County Show at the weekend while other, lesser 4x4s were being towed in and out with tractors. Carbon footprint? I neither know nor give a damn
