Spare wheel carrier install

No guidance, just a photo dump of what’s involved when armed with a 4lb hammer and a disc cutter.

No idea why but photos are in reverse order.

Ooh, thank you for this! I'm building my own mounts and swing arms for a twin setup and this helps considerably in the design!

Chris, delighted to have been of some use (at last).

An unintelligible photo of the ‘captive’ nuts that are mounted on two bars (4 & 2) and fed inside the bumper. You may come up with something different.

Best of luck

I've been looking at that problem, and I think I will probably end up doing the same thing. I'm doing the latches differently though. I'm using door latches off another car to avoid the reverse sensor issues and hopefully make the overall look a bit neater. Will post some photos in a separate thread soon.

The other option would be to weld in place.

Look forward to seeing your solution.

I have the same carrier. Smile

If you have any sensor issues I used a small bit of rubber from a puncture repair kit fixed over the sensor nearest the latch and operate with 3 sensors... works fine.

Hi, my sensor issues predate the wheel carrier and I really ought to have sorted them whilst I had the bumper off.

Another one on the to do list.

England

Thanks for posting, I'm on the fence to whether I 'need' one!
I'd like to see one and look at using it with the rear tailgates.

Hopefully be someone at the LRO show with it fitted.

All the best

My options ran out when I fitted the fixed tow-bar and 265 65 r17 tyres.

Also damn sexy and the wheel cover is an excellent background to all the national stickers were collecting over 9 weeks Rolling Eyes
