Sound moving - base stereo
Hi,
I have a 2011 D4 with the base sound system. It is fine for my needs but I have an issue which I don´t know if it is normal or a fault. When driving listening to the radio I can quite often experience that the sound moves from left to right or vice versa. Like if one of the speakers went silent or really low for a few seconds. If I change the balance manually I can "move" the sound as I like without problems.
Ideas?
Thanks,

major radio station, or smaller one?
does the sound actually pan across, or does the volume alter on one or other speaker?
If panning and local station, then I think it's probably down to poorer sound engineering - if one speaker is dropping out, then probably a connection issue.....
does it happen on other sources too? CD, etc. If so, then it's in the car. if not, then probably the sound engineer having off days.....

The other thing that causes that effect, is moving in and out of areas where you can get stereo transmission. If the signal gets weak, the stereo is dropped to mono. It makes it sound like the music has moved side, where really you've just lost stereo. Richard

Aha, thanks for your knowledge. It is more the volume altering between speakers and thinking about it, it doesn´t happen when listening to other things besides the radio.
So, actually this time nothing is wrong with the car... Never happened before
Thanks

It can be remedied, albeit temporarily, by the turning the volume up by just 1 notch. Must be an issue with the head unit when using radio as the source as it's odd that neither of us are experiencing the same issue when listening to cds.
