Terrafirma Rock/Tree Sliders

Found some Terrafirma Rock/Tree sliders for under £260 at http://www.ribblevalley4x4.com/allmakes/AM_TF818.html

I even emailed them to make sure they had the right price advertised! Got mine delivered yesterday Thumbs Up

Going to get them Raptor coated at a local specialist then get install them.

I believe it is like Line-X.... It's a protective coating by UPOL. Looks good too.

What is the verdict on these sliders? In the market for some myself and very tempted by this price, but don't want to be having to get them blasted and re-coated in 6 months!

Had a very bad experience with these. The ones sent initially didn't fit the vehicle at all.

Had a bit of email tennis with Ribble Valley 4x4 and finally Terrafirma admitted they had a bad batch which wasn't made to the right dimensions.

Took forever to get a replacement set.

I had the original set Raptor coated which I arranged myself - maybe I should of checked them on the vehicle but I hadn't expected to receive a dodgy set. Terrafirma did however arrange them to be recoated for me which I can't fault them for.

The replacement set are okay - but probably better on the market.

Can't fault Ribble Valley 4x4's customer service through the ordeal though.

Thanks for the heads up, is there anything like a batch # to identify the bad ones that you know of?

I'm between these and the eBay £260 ones that I believe there was a group but on here for too, but the eBay ones seem to suffer with finish problems and so I had hopped a named company version were going to be better quality! Can't really justify 600+ on other brands...

Like many companies I think you will find terafirma dont make anything just rebrand it and sell it on, I had one of their defender under chassis skid plates, it wasnt a lot of cop and bent quite badly, some serious hammering fabbing/welding had it strong enough.

My Terrafirma tree/rock are absolutely solid, much better than majority of aftermarket bar pro speed
Still look perfect a few years on Thumbs Up

Looks good! I'm assuming they are strong enough to use as jacking points with a hi-lift too?

Ok so I've taken the plunge and purchased a pair of terrafirma sliders. Drivers side fitted in 10 mins with no issues. "Fantastic!" I think. Then comes the passenger side.

There seems to be a tube with foam insulation running alongside the door sill near the back wheel. Which prevents the slider from seating properly - in fact the slider is resting on the tube, preventing the underside screws from being inserted.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or do I just have a badly made slider here? What is this pipework, and should it fit inside or outside of the slider?

I've attached a photo from underneath the car, slider on the right with a junction in the insulted tube and the tube itself that the slider is resting on clearly visible.

Pipework is for rear a/c, they corrode just each side of the joint, when you sort out the sliders some grease rubbed on the pipes works wonders.

Thanks for that, can the pipes be safely moved 1/2 inch so that they don't foul the sliders? Or are they fixed in position?

If the AC pipes can't be moved and from distant memory I don't think they can without damaging/breaking the joints (happy to be proved wrong on this Smile, have them replaced and re positioned with plastic pipes by a vehicle AC specialist. This doesn't cost too much. The originals will eventually rust and then leak anyway, just a question of when. Thumbs Up
