History bonus to smile about

Just sat down and had a read through the paperwork that's arrived for my 56 plate Disco GS ... bought at the car auction !!!! (I know what you're thinking) Rolling Eyes
I knew it had a 7 stamp dealer history up to 83k (now on 107) but wow.... what a wad of receipts for a fortune spent between 63 and 90k. All main dealer stuff and apart from service items, discs pads etc its also had a compressor, EPB module, front arms and bearings. Smile
I've just done the EGR blank and remap, timing belts and oil pump so fingers crossed for a happy D3 future Question

Others will add to this....

Check your reciepts....look for the items below:

Cam belts......were they done..? If not they need doing
Gearbox (if it's an auto).... fluid change ....if not had the gearbox or torque converter been done ?
Engine oil pump...had it had any work done?..... specific parts numbers prone to a very expensive failure.....the actual vehicle serial numbers in a Wiki at the site header.
EGR. valves these peg out around where you are they can be freed up then blanked off......any reciepts ?
MAF sensor.....this can get fouled up...can be cleaned....mine was swapped out.....it brings up first an engine warning light .... then gets you home....just
AC pipes....on HSE's I believe....not on D3's with front AC only.....
PDC sensors & looms.....these don't seem to last that long
Brake servo.....there was a recall...the unit ingests oil & goes wonky
Tow Bar.....the detachable one....there was a recall....a dealer should say whether done or not

At this miles....should be lots on suspension parts & bushes...

You should be able to put dockets in date order & make a list
Note: brakes are a normal charge out item....they don't last long at all....they can be upgraded to V8 ones....really worth doing

Finally - who's going to do any further work ? Yourself, a dealer, or an independant
Don't despair - all is fixable & it's worth doing
Good luck
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I do my own work, as I said, just done the belts oil pump and egrs, unstuck the turbo actuator and sorted a broken wire causing EPB issues .... all jobs I might add made so much easier with the excellent guides on here and the advice of the brotherhood. Its a manual with front only air con. Everything (touch wood) seems to work though PDCs seem erratic.
