Mine is 3 years old in September, the D5 isn't doing it for me. Does anyone know how much the extended LR warranty is ?

Just got the 2-year extended warranty plus LR Assistance for wife's Evoque. Cost was £800.

I could get it cheaper with WD - but I had a failure with my D4 when it was under warranty and the service was superb. She doesn't want any hassle if something does go wrong, so the LR package fits the bill for her.

Extended warranty is by car care plan....based in Bradford
Maybe the LR is that provider too...?
Before I extended mine on my XK I asked about....it's not just the cost but the arrangements between car repaired & "them"....reality situation as it decides just what they cover (& dont) & what they actually have to pay out.
What I found that the dealers & indies work well & speak well of Car Care Plan...& I have used the provisions to keep my car not just viable but mechanically viable.
None of these are low cost....& if there is a major issue it's not at the who pays stage you are in the position to select.
I haven't scoured, on here (yet) to read of the Car Car Plan & experiences ...?
If you don't make a claim in the period it could be seen as wasted cash...dead money
If you do it ought to be a realistic payment for all or a realistic contribution.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Wow I'd be well happy with £800 for 2 years !

It will be at least £1000 especially with LR Assist added on. It varies depending on age and mileage I'm told. E.g. My 12 plate Sport renewal quote is £1360 with LRAssist on 46K miles...
Can pay monthly over 10 months and no excess plus includes MOT insurance to £750
I'm considering WD for same price for 2 years so basically half price but I want no hassle so will probably go LR having spoken to my well trusted and regarded LR service centre.

Question:

If you swap warranty providers....do you have to have a vehicle check done? - by a dealer.

£1000 for 2 years ? I'll take that too ! I'll be less than 20k miles at 3 years old.

I thought they only did it for 12months at a time unless you buy an Approved Used vehicle which then comes with 2 years as part of the package i.e. you shouldn't need to buy it separately.
Did you buy the Evoque from a main LR dealer under their Approved Used scheme?

I couldn't get WD to continue the top level of cover despite last 3 years with them and only one claim - new compressor in first year. Now mileage is 71K they wanted £30 to remove betterment.

Moved to Quentin's lot - WarrantyWise for £50 less and no betterment and no waiting for Wear & Tear clause.

I hope I don't need it but it's there for the Big One!

I looked at the WarrantyWise route, but thought that they had low maximum claim limits, like £5,000 without paying large additional payment, and permanently excluded wear & tear items. Have they changed their policies?

UPDATE: I've just been to get a quote again. It would seem that £5,000 is still their maximum standard claim limit (with a standard labour rate for of £60, inc VAT), with additional £1,000 increases in that limit being available (for a price), up the a maximum of £10,000. Their policy on wear and tear, quoted from their website "We can't and don't cover for worn out parts, no one can". Did you manage to get that improved on the phone? That would be really useful to know Thumbs Up

Worn out parts

Realistically even new car warranties don't do that when you get past the early stages.
What I see the warranty gamble in providing in its potential winnings is the swap out of parts that should last the reasonable life of the vehicle.
A neighbour with an XK warned me to keep my warranty live as "little things could cost big"....one engine warming light on his (vehicle still operational)'cost £4500..00 to extinguish.
I've been lucky on my D3. Only wear & tear parts.....these happen anyway & if the warranty isn't paying up or only partially it's wasted money.

I'm surprised that J/LR with other makers follow others into five & more year warranties as a selling point, it would to me, give confidence in paying £70k plus for a vehicle & then floating your own boat 3 years out.[/b]

To be fair, the 5 and even 7 year warranties tend to be from the newcomer end of the market, where their rock bottom production costs are used to subsidise extended warranties, rather than simply undercut the opposition up front.

It's a clever strategy. It maintains the prestige of not being considered the cheapskate's option and supports residuals, while getting people to say "they must be confident in their product, look at the 5 (7) year warranty!"

Perhaps if LR were to move their production to, say, Korea they might have the margin to do it as well?

I did not explain that bit very well. It's the sudden failure of a part within 90 days I got removed.

As you say nobody covers real 'wear and tear'.

Sorry for getting your hopes up Thumbs Up

WD deffo cover wear and tear, and have had many, many claims for worn out suspension stuff replaced at their cost, less excess.
