Loose Windscreen Trim

I was travelling on the motorway yesterday at about 70mph and suddenly the was a loud flapping noise from the windscreen. On pulling over onto the hard shoulder I found that the rubber trim that runs along the top of the windscreen had become dislodged and had been hitting the roof. The vehicle is only 12 months old and the dealer is suggesting that the trim will need to be glued in place. It is obvious the the trim wasn't designed to be glued and was wondering if anyone had experienced this problem and what remedial work was necessary.

I've recently had just the same thing happen. I pushed it back several times, but the rubber came adrift in ever shorter times. I've now removed it to save it being lost on the road. Booked at dealers a week tomorrow. Wouldn't accept glue as an answer as it'll be a real mess the next time the screen is replaced.

there was a topix about this that DG posted. Search and ye shall find! Coupled with the towbar cover, it was a recall item. I had mine done, and I am not certain that they have done anything better than glue it.

You need to find out if a new windscreen has been recently been fitted - badly.....

Thank you for your responses.

I had previously noticed that the trim was coming away from the windscreen after the first service and had put it down to the force of the power wash when the dealer had valeted the car. Yesterday was the second time that the trim had come out since then but this time it was much worse with more than 40% becoming dislodged.

The car was new when I bought it and it has never had a new windscreen fitted, although I can understand you coming to that conclusion.

I will speak to the dealer and will try to get an official response from Land Rover regarding the suggestion that it will need gluing.
