In your opinion
Would this pass an MOT? My Disco 3 had an MOT 2 weeks ago at Kwik Fit just before I bought it. Doesn't look very good to me 🤔

I'd say no, Im sure there has to be visible tread across the tyre, I may be wrong and needs to be 1.6 mm2006 D3 2.7tdv6 SE Zermatt (6A)

Looks to be still legal, 1.6mm over 3/4 of the tread

I thought it was across 75% of the width of the tyre, so good to me. For a little while anyway.... but your tyres... your choice

Think it has to be over a certain proportion of the tyre.
That would only be an advisory

They wouldn't be the first people to put a newer set of tyres on just to get it through the MOT and then straight off after it:?Cheers Ian

Tread width is the "foot print" of the tyre so it needs to be 1.6mm over 3/4 or 75% of that with no bald spots, anything over the 75% can be bald
Would you want to drive on tyres that low, I wouldn't want to but legal is still legal and it will still ass an MOT2006 D3 HSE

I agree that they are legal (looks to be enough tread over enough of the tyre) but they are prob only good for another 100/200 miles and in very wet or slippery conditions I wouldn't be overly confident in them when required. You may as well get them changed as you will need to in a couple of weeks anyway.
If they failed the MOT on them I would argue the point and not pay for a retest (most placed retest for free over tyres etc anyway).
Get some more though.......when you need them most they may not be up to the job and could be looking at a far larger bill or worse!

For reference on earlier questions ...the center of the 75% has to be laid over the centre line of the tyre
