Dealer missed transfer box grinding.

Hi, this is my first post.

Had a breakdown in my 2015 D4. Would not start, gear knob would not raise.

RAC recovered on a truck to a local Land Rover dealer who determined the fault was a cable.
After replacing this they recommended the rear brakes and discs were replaced.
This was carried out.

After collecting the car I heard a grinding noise, I thought this my be the new brakes binding.

Called the dealer and after many phone calls which went into the following day, they asked me to bring it back.

They then determined the grinding noise was from the transfer box and it needed replacing.
Quoted £4700 for a new one.

One of the staff said it may have been caused by being towed when in gear.

There was no noise before the electrical fault and they cannot explain why they did not discover it during the other repairs.

Appalling service and attitude for a main dealer.

Any advice would be appreciated.

A couple of questions....

Was it towed whilst in gear? If so, by whom? If the RAC towed it in gear and broke it, then they should pay for any consequential damage.

The car should still be under warranty, so why isn't the warranty covering it?

Two years old and wants new disks and brakes Shocked what do you mean by brakes? I am still on original rear disks, pads and shoes after nearly 13 years and 100k miles, something else is seriously wrong!
