Thanks, it may sound strange but it truly means a lot!!
It hit us hardest when we started to realise our littlen's car seat went too, so then it gone to affecting him and as a parent all you want to do is protect your kids from stuff like this.
Anyway
Yes - they walked up to it as is they had a key.
They can be seen driving off with what looks like all the windows open and the interior lights on.
It had just been serviced and MOT'd two weeks earlier at a Lookers dealership.
I'll get a few pics of it up this evening and thanks again.

terrible news and thoughts are with you all! I know it's only a car, but it's your car, with all the memories etc that go with it!" Also, all those little things that are in the door pockets, your CD's, car seats (as already mentioned) etc they all go as well when some nicks it!
Not sure why people on here feel the need to leave 'petty' comments, but I guess it does take 'all sorts' to make a forum
Good luck with everything, hope you find your mini and who knows, the D4 could still be found! Iggy/Ieuan

I've sent a PM but also you should look at what, if anything, you could claim on household insurance ... I found out after the event that I had a limit of £200 for contents. Whilst my situation was different - car stolen from dealer so I didn't make any claim on my own insurance - once I stared totting up all the stuff in the car, it came to over £600 ... plus almost full tank of fuel, costs for recovering personal reg etc..

By the sounds of it the police wouldn't be interested anyway.

That's bad - I'd be gutted if I lost mine
My mates laugh at me as I take ages to lock it, I've got a Discklock and I always check all doors locked in case one of the locks has failed - again - and leave nothing on display
And I've got a tracker - had that fitted from new
I know if someone really wants it - all above wont matter - but it may make them think again
Anyway, hopefully you get it sorted to your satisfaction one way or another

not defending them but police have to prioritise these things ... if there was anything they could take finger-prints off, they'd be there I think. and if someone had been hurt, also gets a bump up the list.
and by bizarre coincidence, I've had a phone-call this morning regarding settling the claim for contents. only 7 months 2 days since car was nicked. .

Tenuous ...Lookers service hundreds of motors no doubt.
They don't need a key ...or in some cases for easy access they need yourkey to be within scanning range in your house.
I've said it before but I rather they take the motor than break in to your gaff and duff you up to get at the keys.

One way of protecting the 'keyless entry' car is to protect the keys.... put them in a metal box ( biscuit tin etc) with a lid, this will screen the signal from the car to the key etc. Its technically called a faraday box or case ( you can get them for i-pads etc to stop data being 'read'). Plus keep any spare keys in a small home 'safe' along with your passports etc.
Sorry it doesn't help the OP but might be worth a look for others.
mine were in locked safe at dealers ... and fact they broke glass to get entry probably excludes access to key being how they nicked the car.
youtube has demos of how to do it without original key ... 2m 6s on a RRS..

As already said, don't be beaten, if you want another Disco have another Disco.
As a recipient of visitors after my Disco I refuse to do with out.
Enjoy the pleasures of your hard work to have a Disco👍👍👍

Thank you all for your support, it's light years away from what I've had in person...
So I've not heard anything from the Police or the insurance since getting an email from them asking me to send them paperwork and keys...
