Heater fan very poor on screen in auto

Has anyone suffered from this problem before? My disco 4 heater fan when on auto setting puts next to no air onto the screen and you can hear the air being obstructed in the dash. Land rover are trying to tell me this is the design and that to get maximum on the screen you must set the fan to manual and press the screen button.

I have said, really? seems a design fault to me as the vehicle uses this auto setting when the car uses the timed pre-heater to defrost the car and surely you would want maximum blow onto the screen. Their response was silence?!

Yep mines the same Thumbs Up

But to your question to LR about the pre heat and blowing maximum hot air to the window! It's probbably best that it doesn't everyone has been told don't throw hot water on to cold Windows it could be why with instant hot air could do the same so maybe why?? saying that we really get temperatures that get extremely cold unless you live somewhere obscure but just a thought?

Thumbs Up

OK

I have a D3...HSE with the full monty climate control
I haven't a clue whether this is similar in operation to D4's

If you have it on Auto....start the Disco....it raises or lowers the temperature to what's set & references outside conditions.
It will always:
Clear the screen....regardless of temp outside
Then will bring the cabin temperature to set temperatures (driver side, passenger side, rear of car) if rear system "on".
It's programmed to do this..
On Manual....you select

I'd suggest one of the flaps in the climate system is stuck, or sticking.
How the heck you get to these, unstick etc maybe is a known on here
......but over the years on here I've not seen it mentioned.
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

With the IIDTools you can "reset" all the air-duct flaps and check if the stepper motors are ok....
