Tyre Replacement

Got home tonight to find that my N/S/R tyre has a large chunk out of the sidewall and went flat within a few minutes. I'm assuming as it's the side wall that repair is not advised and a new tyre it is! Annoying as the tyre is only 12 months old and has tread of 6mm, my question is simply as the tyre depth on the opposite tyre is the same, can I replace only the damaged tyre? I have read that you should replace both tyres on the same axle, but given the tread depth I was hoping replacing just the one tyre will be ok?

Thanks.

Yes one full tread with one half worn won't present any issues in driving....the diff sorts this
It does mean if it's long term the 1/2 worn one will wear down to the legal limit & may affect handling...maybe.
 BREXIT - done properly.

Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
