Without doubt I want smaller wheels with tyres with higher sidewalls; but I'm not sure how to arhieve this.
My favourite tyre supplier says this:-
Quote:
Fitting the 18” is probably not the best route on the D4 as the Compomotive run very close to the calliper.
If I don't go the Compomotive, what is the smallest wheel I can fit to my Landmark; presumably Discovery 19" wheels.
In which case I could fit 255/55/19 GG AT3s, which would suit me well.

I've yet to experience any issues with my 18" Compomotives. I've driven on a variety of loose surfaces inc. some with a lot of small chippings/stones. What I haven't done yet is drive through a lot of deep mud, having only been through a couple of isolated muddy sections.
You could ask the guys at Prospeed, they sell and fit Compomotives. Or talk to Compomotive themselves:
I've always taken off the 20" rims that came as standard fit on my D4's and there's nothing wrong with running 19"s, but I'm happier with the 18"s. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

sorry to open an old thread but I have a couple of questions regarding 18" Compomotives on newer disco 4s, and there seemed to be a good concentration of users here.
1. do compomotives with 265/65r18 fit in the spare tyre area.
2. if yes, does it fit on the post 2016 model with the adblue tank?
thanks!Current -

Sorry I can't confirm either way, as I run 255-60-18 tyres. Although I suspect it would be fine. Others on here maybe able to help. If not give Prospeed a call, they'll know the answers. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I have RSS 20" wheels fitted with Pirelli Verde 255/55/20's. That was a heck of an improvement regards ride. If you're ever up to Essex, you're welcome to have a go.
