Hi Ben, on the panel front Iggy the Welsh panel wizard is doing one for me On the running of the cable I did not fancy pulling trim out and tucking the cable round bends and such so after a word with Mick Flack i decided on the external route. I have taken precautions by running it through metal armoured Kopex from right in the engine bay right up to inside the rear light. I will now just run it across and into the back panel and await Ieuan. I have added a few pics to show where I run it and slotted it through.
First of all I fed the cable through while the Kopex was relatively straight
Then ran it the length of the chassis (Only hic up was that the kopex would not go behind body mount so i went round
I brought the cable over the top of rear axel with other cables and down back onto chassis and up behind rear light keeping it away from exhaust
The front wheel arch showing where I positioned it and where i took it into the engine bay (Behind heat shield)
Kopex and cable run right into battery box so it is protected from back to front
My best friend the industrial tie wrap
I am now just waiting on Iggy and just got to put a few lugs on either end and job done. I will pick battery clamp up from Mick (Flack) who has made one for me tomorrow
Total cost including split charge and Battery plus all bits is
Split charge- £63 From Simply split charge on eBay
Battery - £68 from Tayna
10mm Cable (10m)- £20 from eBay
Kopex 5M - £25 from local electrical wholesalers
Tie wraps(50)- £10 as above
Total = £186 + Iggys charge for panel and 4 pork & Blackpudding pies in exchange for battery clamp and use of crimper
Great work Mark, looks very neat
Looks like your getting to be a dab hand at this mechanic malarky , whats next.........your cam belt?!!!
Iggy the welsh panel wizard, as he has put the cable up to the drivers side I'd tell him you only have the passenger side panels but you could make a drivers side one for an extortionate fee!!
Ey Ben I did my own alternator back in April so part way there on campbell change I watched Mick flack in April do my oil pump,water pump and cam belts, does that count ? Tbh Ben I have right enjoyed doing it. Next on the list is a full engine rebuild with body still on and done on my driveway in the middle of winter Think not !The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

Just finished putting in my split charge system in today
Next is to run a cable from front to rear to fit this control panel
Gone for that one Stephen as it fits in ok with a little room to manoeuvre as i also have a control unit in there for my FBH
Still going well for me Mark

I’ve just not long ago swapped mine for a dual AGM marine battery, but honestly the varta was still going strong. I plan to stick the varta into a portable unit.
