And now, the end is near...

It's with a heavy heart that I'm bidding farewell to my D3 and the helpful and knowledgable folk of this forum. With some serious dough splashed on it recently, I'm pre-empting the next big bill and leaving the LR fold for pastures Swedish...(please don't mock).

Thanks to everyone on here who has taken the time to share their tips, tricks and vast knowledge of these addictive motors.

At some point over the next few days I'll be listing various bits that the dealer won't be getting in the PX on the FS section so keep 'em peeled.

Cheers fellas, I do hope to be back one day! Thumbs Up

As for the money spent; a new handbrake module (£700) and a replacement innards for the sat nav DVD unit (£120) were on top of the usual things like replacement bushes, pads, etc. Fortunately, the big bill of £2,400 for the replacement torque converter and gearbox refurb was covered by a WD policy (but I had to pay out for a subsequent diesel leak to be fixed which my mechanic suspected was down to the work done on the TC).

I realise this may not be big compared to some bills on here but by paying £50 a month on top of what I've just finished paying for the D3 I'm getting a 7-month old, fully-specced XC60 with 5k miles on the clock.

I bought it with 95k on the clock so I took care of the big belt & pump service. Mileage up to 128,500 now and serviced as per schedule along with all the usual things of D3s of this age. Apart from the surging revs caused by the TC just north of Paris, it handled a 1,900 mile road trip to the Vendee and back last summer and its something we plan to do for the next few years.

With a 9yr old motor, I'm wary that the next ping or dash light could be a biggie so decided to wave goodbye to the £515 road tax and WD policy payments and savour what the Swedes have to offer. Confused
