Cleaning the Aluminium Strip on Side Steps

Hi guys,

Over the last 3 months I've noticed some dark/grey marks on the drivers side Side Steps of my 2011 Disco 4 Landmark. I thought this was strange as the passenger side step is fine, but it's not scuffs from shoes etc and doesn't come off with a pressure washer.

I'm conscious there could be coating on the aluminium, and t-cut may remove this. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get these marks off?

I can upload pics later on if required.

Thanks

Don't bother cleaning - they will fall off soon!

Read a thread suggesting a washing powder and water paste, with a kitchen scourer (so) sponge and elbow grease. I tried it, worked a treat Very Happy

Another vote here for Autosol. Thumbs Up

The trim on my steps was tar-spotted and marked with road film that washing alone wouldn't shift. A rub with Autosol and they came up a treat. Have since treated them with HD wax to try and keep them looking that way.

I use black tea (yes) on my alloy wheels to get off that stubborn brake dust. Comes off with one wipe where a pressure washer wont move it. You could try that...wont cost you too much to try Wink

Thanks guys. Autosol worked an absolute treat! Side steps now look as good as new! Awesome stuff.

You want any Aussie to tell you what black tea is? Razz I heard about it a while back when looking for a solution to brake dust that I couldn't remove. Just wiped on the tea (not hot) & it came straight off. Don't know why but cheap & effective Thumbs Up
