D4 Help stop/start problem |
|
Having problem with stop start on my Landmark. Have intermittent problem, that some times when i come to a stop engine cuts out as should, but Gear Leaver drops and car shuts down as if i have turned engine off. Been in to dealer twice before and they say can't replicate problem? back in again and can't find anything ?. Have now refused to pick up untill sorted. Been in now for a week and no joy Only plus side as have had D5 to try until now. Anyone else had same problem? or point in right direction ???

Check the seatbelt switch on the drivers seat. The system is designed to shut down if it detects the absence of a driver and engages park.
When this happens, do you have your foot on the brake? I know on our Disco Sport it will stay in Eco Stop while you have your foot on the brake, but as soon as you release it it shuts down.
I think your scenario is as follows:
Vehicle comes to a stop in D with foot on brake.
Engine stops.
Shifter stays in D, all lights are on.
You take your foot off the brake hoping for a restart and the car shuts down.
Is this right? If so, it's definitely pointing to the seat belt switch.

Hi thanks, No just come to stop foot still on brake, engine cuts out and gear leaver drops and get shutdown as if you turned off? Have to press start button again. Bit dangerous when at a junction and go to pull out

It sounds like there's an issue with the level 2 safety monitor in the engine management.
There are some people I work with who look after some of the JLR diagnostics on the engines based in the Swansea area.
I'll have a word in work next week, I work in JLR Powertrain, and I can make some enquiries. If you can pm me your VIN number I'll check on the internal database for any information.
Believe it or not, there are over 70 individual inhibits that cause stop start to not function, but I agree that it's not satisfactory to have to restart.
A few on here can vouch for me if you have any questions.
