HDC error, spec progs off etc but also gears...Alternator?

All the lights coming on, including what appears to be limp mode as the wife said performance dropped and she did indeed limp home while the dash was lit up and flashing.
She said she couldn't get it into D after restarting it.

It had a new battery a few months ago so that should be fine, and I had charged it after summer hols a few weeks ago. Today it reads 11.6v after the above issues. After starting the engine and leaving it running it reads around 10.7, so it is going down with engine on. Sounds like alternative gone yes?

But would that also cause it not to go into gear? when we first got it we took it for a check over and they said something like the gear selector arm was slightly bent, still working but FYI it's bent.

Then wife says a couple of times recently it had been sluggish to change gears in low gears.

So could a low batt, perhaps due to dead alternator, cause the gear issues or might we have two diff issues here?
